144 <br />The approved claims were ordered paid on motion of Councilman McNulty, seconded by Councilman <br />A <br />Jones. <br />Adjournment. <br />BEM:MR <br />MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING <br />REDWOOD CITY COUNCIL <br />SEPTEMBER 3, 1935 <br />5:00 P.M. <br />City Clerk <br />Upon.roll call, the following Councilmen were present: Mayor, C. G. Lambert, L. C. Christensen, <br />J. M. Eva, E. A. Fletcher, R. N. Jones, City Clerk, B. E. Myers. Absent: Councilmen <br />P. A. McCarthy and G. W. McNulty. <br />The minutes of the meeting of August 19, 1935, were approved on motion of Councilman Jones, <br />seconded by Councilman Christensen. <br />Mr. I. Isacson petitioned the Council for permission to solicit junk in Redwood City, with the <br />understanding that none of it would be sold, nor would there be an office or yard within <br />the City limits. Permission was granted on motion of Councilman Christensen, seconded by <br />Councilman Fletcher. <br />James H. Phillips, Attorney of San Francisco, addressed a communication to the Council enclos- <br />Ing a claim for damages in the name of Mrs. M. J. Nichols, which she is alleged to have <br />suffered in an automobile accident at the corner of Brewster Avenue and Arguello Street. <br />The letter was ordered filed. <br />Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman Eva, proposed the adoption of the following reso- <br />lution. Unanimously carried. <br />WHEREAS, under and by virtue of Chapter 642 of the Statutes of <br />1935, the Department of Public Works of the State of California is authorized <br />to expend or cause to be expended from the State Highway Fund an amount not <br />less than the net revenue derived from one-quarter cent per gallon tax on <br />motor fuel, on State Highways within cities for the purposes specified in <br />said Chapter, and in the manner provided by law, and <br />WHEREAS, in accordance with the provisions of said Chapter 642 <br />and in accordance with the provisions of Section 75 and Section 100 of the <br />Streets and Highways Code (Chapter 29 of the Statutes of 1935), the Depart- <br />ment of Public Works, acting by and through the California Highway Commission, <br />has designated as a State Highway the following described streets in the <br />CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, SAN MATEO COUNTY <br />Route 107. Within Redwood City <br />2.25 miles <br />Beginning at the southwesterly city limits of <br />Redwood City on the Woodside --La Honda Road, thence north- <br />erly over Woodside Road about 1.3 miles to junction of E1 <br />Camino Real and Main Street, thence northwesterly over. Main <br />Street about 0.5 mile to Maple Street intersection, thence <br />northerly over Main Street about 0.5 mile to a junction with <br />State Highway Route 65, a distance of 2.25 miles more or less <br />within the corporate limits of Redwood City; <br />which said streets are existing travelable streets in the City of Redwood City, <br />and approximately on the route of the authorized State Highway, and <br />a <br />
