N <br />The City Manager filed formal resignation, effective December 1, and upon motion of <br />Councilman McNulty, seconded by Councilman Fletcher, his resignation was accepted <br />and a vote of thanks from the Council members given him for his service. <br />In connection with the selling or leasing of property in certain residential districts <br />to orientals or negroes, on motion of Councilman Eva, seconded by Councilman <br />McCarthy, the Uity Attorney was instructed to write a letter to real, estate, <br />agents in Redwood City asking their cooperation toward eliminating this situation. <br />Further discussion of the Buben matter was laid over until the next meeting. <br />In a written communication the Chamber of Commerce asked the City to assume the res- <br />ponsibility of decorating the streets for the Christmas Holidays. Chief Ryan, <br />of the Fire Department, was asked to estimate the cost of stringing electric <br />lights on the principal streets and also to find out what could be done for <br />providing greens for the decorations. <br />Councilman Eva, seconded by Councilman Christensen, proposed the adoption of the <br />following resolution which was unanimously carried: <br />RESOLVED. by. the- City Council: of the. City. of Redwood City <br />that E.. A. ROLISON., CITY .MANAGER.,, and ,C.� L., DIMMI.TT:,. CITY. ENGINEER,. <br />be and...they are hereby authorized to. sign,_ on behalf.of the.Ci.ty of <br />Redwood. .City, the.,agreement.-with, the- Department of. Public Works, <br />Division. of Highways, State, of. Calif ornia, concerning the expendi- <br />ture oL the,1/4 cent• Highway, Fund. allocated to the City for the <br />present biennium, 1935 -3T - <br />It was decided to do nothing at present toward selecting a City Manager as successor <br />to E. A. Rolison, and for the interim, on motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded <br />by Councilman McNulty, C. L. Dimmitt, City Engineer, was appointed Manager pro tem. <br />The approved claims were ordered paid on motion of Councilman McNulty, seconded by <br />Councilman Fletcher. <br />Adjournment. <br />BEM: MR <br />r <br />�.
