Lambert, L. C. Christensen,
J. M. Eva, E. A. Fletcher, R. N. Jones, P. A. McCarthy, Geo. W. McNulty and City Clerk,
B. E. Myers.
The minutes of the meeting of November 18, 1935, were approved on motion of Councilman Eva,
seconded by Councilman Fletcher.
Discussion was had concerning a call for hearing by the Railroad Commission of the State of
California for the closing of Beech Street in Redwood City and the City Attorney indicated
that he would be present.
D. L. Walter explained to the Council that he represented interests which were planning a
built-up subdivision west of the Avenue de las Pulgas at Blandford Street in Edgewood
Park, and asked whether or not the City would furnish water and permit sewer connection
with the Redwood City system. On motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman
Christensen, it was decided to grant the request of Mr. Walter with the understanding
that all pipe, etc. would be furnished; that $25 would be paid for each sewer connection;
and that the number of connections would be limited to 18.
J. C. Youngberg, in a letter from the District Re -organization Service Company, San Francisco,
suggested certain procedures in connection with the recent $425,000 refunding bond issue.
The Council went on record as favoring the recommendations of Mr. Youngberg .(on motion
of Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman Fletcher) with the exception that the
City Treasurer need not register the individual coupons. Included in the motion was the
specific direction to the City Treasurer not to pay out any moneys from any of the 1915
Act funds unless there was sufficient in the fluid to pay all outstanding indebtedness of
that particular fund. In the same connection, the City Treasurer was instructed to notify
all bondholders that until,a test case had been made no money would be available under the
refinancing bond issue.
Mr. David Cosgrave, representing D. L. Walter and his client, made written application to the
Council for permission to construct a two story building to house a French Nand Laundry
at 868 Jefferson Avenue near the Standard Printing Company building and almost across from
the Post Office. The matter was referred to the City Attorney for report at the next
meeting.
R. N. Buben, of Avondale Avenue, appeared before the Council to explain his side of the situation
concerning buildings on his lot.
Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman Christensen, proposed the adoption of the following
Resolution which was unanimously carried:.
WHEREAS San Mateo .County Harbor District submitted for the approval
of the electorate of the County a.proposition to bond .the district in the sum
of $460.,000 for the development, of a, port project at Redwood City and, said.
proposition was not given sufficient.approval at an election held on the 28th
day of August, 1934, due to lack of appreciation of the county -wide merit of
the undertaking, and
