I <br />10 <br />MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING <br />REDWOOD CITY COUNCIL <br />FEBRUARY 17, 1936 <br />9:00 P.M. <br />Upon roll call, the following Councilmen were present: Mayor, C. G. Lambert, L. C. Chris- <br />tensen, J. M. Eva, R. N. Jones, P. A. McCarthy, Geo. W. McNulty and City Clerk, B. E. <br />-Myers. Absent: Councilman E. A. Fletcher. <br />The minutes of the meeting of February 3, 1936, were approved on motion.of Councilman <br />1 Christensen, seconded by Councilman Jones. <br />A letter from Mr. A. T. Mercier, General Manager, Southern Pacific Company, in connection <br />with the proposed arrangements for traffic safety was read and ordered filed. <br />There was read a letter from the Planning Commission recommending (1) That the application_ <br />of Mr. Bartell to rezone a portion of Lot 2, Diller Addition, from the business zone <br />to the light industrial zone, for the construction.and use of a French laundry, be <br />granted, and (2) That the application of Sam Gold to enlarge his premises on the <br />Woodside Road be granted. <br />In connection with the application of Mr. Bartell to rezone to the light industrial zone, <br />on motion of Councilman Eva, seconded by Councilman Christensen, it was decided to <br />accept the recommendation of the Planning Commission, and the City Attorney was in - <br />strutted to publish notice of hearing for March 2. <br />Om motion of Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman Eva, permission was granted Sam <br />Gold to enlarge and alter his premises on the Woodside Road, provided the plans and <br />specifications met with the approval of the Building Inspector. <br />George Thompson, representing the Bear Photo Company, asked the Board to rescind its order <br />that the "Bear" on the Southern Pacific grounds in front of Wellesley Park be removed, <br />explaining that his company intended to keep the bear properly painted. On motion of <br />Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman Eva, it was decided to allow the company <br />to permit the "Bear" to remain there, with the understanding that it be properly painted <br />by the 1st of March. <br />Mrs. Jos. Casaretto explained about the flood conditions at her property at Brewster and <br />Hillview Avenues, the truth of which was vouched for by several Councilmen. City <br />Manager Dimmitt promised Mrs. Casaretto to repair the driveways that'had been washed <br />out by the water, and it was decided to include in the next budget an amount which <br />could be utilized in connection with a W.P.A. project. <br />Letters were read from Assemblyman Mblvyn I. Cronin and the League of California Munici- <br />palities in connection with the contemplated change of jurisdiction over the granting <br />of liquor licenses. On motion of Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman Eva, <br />it was suggested that the Council communicate with Mr. Cronin and tell him how the <br />Council felt about it. Mayor Lambert asked Councilman McCarthy to do this. <br />Councilman McCarthy, for his committee consisting of himself and Councilman Fletcher, <br />filed a written report concerning the bids for public liability and general liability <br />insurance, decision concerning which had been referred to them at the previous meeting. <br />In the report the committee recommended that the Council accept the bid of the <br />I <br />V <br />
