196
6i
REORGANIZATION OF NEW -COUNCIL MOMMS
April 20, 1936
The members of the new Council were seated and answered to roll call as follows:
Councilmen L. C. Christensen, J. M. Eva, E. A'. Pletcher, W. Hohn, R. N:, Jones,
P., A. McCarthy, and G W. McNulty.
Pellowing the roll call, the City Clerk, as temporary chairman; called for nomina-
tions for permanent Chairman and Ex -officio Mayor.. Councilman Christensen
stated that the Council should recognize long years of business experience and
civic interest and proposed for Chairman the name of William Hohn. Mr. Hehn,
on his part, thanked the Council for suggesting his name, but indicated that
due to his inexperience in the activities of the Council he did not feel quell -
fieri to serve as Chairman and wished to be excused. He proposed for Chairman
and Mayor, Councilman Paul A. McCarthy, who was chosen unanimously. In his
acceptance speech, Mayor McCarthy recognized with humbleness the honor that
had been bestowed upon him and expressed the hope that there would be continued
unity of action on the part of all Councilmen in future deliberation. He also
asked that all heads of departments and City employees cooperate, that the City
might prosper and grow, and that the results of the City Administration might
deserve public approval.
On motion of Councilman Eva, seconded by Councilman McNulty, the Certificates of
Election and Oaths of the four recently elected Councilmen were ordered filed.
r?=
On motion of Councilman McNulty, seconded by Councilman Eva, the 'Clerk was instructed
to notify the Bank of America to accept Mayor McCarthy's signature on City checks.
On motion of Councilman McNulty, seconded by Councilman Jones, the meeting adjourned
lr
to .April 27, at B o'clock p.m.
City Me
BEM:MR
