<br />MINUTES OF SPEGEAU ADJOURNEDAMEETING
<br />REDWOOD CITY COUNCIL
<br />APRILV 29 r 1936

<br />Upon roll call, the following Councilmen were present: Mayor, Paul A. McCarthy, L. C. Chris-
<br />tensen, E. A. -Pletcher, Wm.. Hohn, R. N.- Jones, G. W. McNulty, City Clerk, B. E. Myers.
<br />Absent:. J: M, Eva.
<br />Fred Schmitz,` Manager of the new firm, Brand Plumbing Company, asked permission to use the
<br />unexpired portion of P. E. Brand's plumbing license, explaining that he had taken over
<br />the business and would apply for a regular license in his own name July 1.� Application
<br />granted on motion of Councilman Jones, seconded by Councilman Hohn.
<br />On motion of Councilman McNulty, seconded by Councilman Christensen, there was introduced
<br />an ordinance calling a special election in the City of Redwood City for the purpose
<br />of submitting to the electors of said City the proposition of incurring a bonded
<br />indebtedness of said City for the acquisition of the following municipal improvement
<br />. of said City, to -wit: ,A Municipal Harbor; declaring the estimated cost of said
<br />municipal improvement, the amount of principal of said indebtedness to be incurred
<br />therefor, and the maximum rate of interest to be paid thereon; fixing the date of
<br />said election, the manner of holding the same, establishing election precincts and
<br />polling places for said election and appointing Boards of Election therefor, and
<br />providing for notice thereof. (For $200,000 - later rescinded.)
<br />On motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman Hohn, there was introduced
<br />Ordinance No. 374, calling a special election in the City of Redwood City, County
<br />of San Mateo, State of California, for the purpose of submitting and submitting to
<br />the qualified voters of said city the proposition or proposal to amend Section 4,
<br />Section 26, Section 56 and Section 91 of the Charter of the City of Redwood City, and
<br />to amend said Charter by the addition thereto of the following numbered Sections,
<br />to -wit: Section 47, Section 47a, Section 47b, Section 47c, Section -47d, Section•47e,
<br />Section 47f, Section 47g, Section 147h, Section 49, Section 49a; Section 49b, Section 49c,
<br />Section 49d, Section 49e, Section 49f, Section Ogg, Suction 49, Section 49a, Section 49b,
<br />Section 49c, Section 49d, Section 49e, Section 50, Section 50a, and Section 53k, and
<br />consolidating said special election with a special election in said City of Redwood City
<br />for the purpose of submitting to the electors of said City of Redwood City the propo-
<br />sition of incurring a bonded indebtedness of -said City for the acquisition of the
<br />following municipal improvement of said City, to -wit: A Municipal Harbor; declaring
<br />the estimated cost of said municipal improvement, the amount of principal of said
<br />indebtedness to be incurred therefor, and the maximum rate of interest to be paid thereon;
<br />fixing the date of said election the manner of holding the same, establishing election
<br />precincts and polling places for said election and appointing Beards of Election therefor,
<br />and providing for notice thereof.
<br />On motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman McNulty, a resolution was adopted
<br />expressing the loss sustained by this State in the death of Charles X. McClatchy of
<br />Sacramento.
