224 <br />On motion of Councilman Christensen, seconded by Councilman Fletcher, permission was given <br />to the Women's Club and the Siwanis Club to arrange a soft baseball game at Hawes Park <br />the evening of August 31, at which admission would be charged but no license paid. <br />Carried. <br />Roscoe"Wyatt, representing the Chamber of Commerce,reported to the Council about his pre- <br />paration of booklets and showed quotation for the printing. In accordance with his <br />statement, he was authorized to spend $445.00 for the 10,000 booklets which would be <br />sufficient to last for two years. <br />'Councilman Fletcher explained about certain difficulties in connection with the insurance <br />policies submitted to the City by the taxi -cab operators, and expressed his opinion <br />that no policies should be taken out with companies other than those which have been <br />admitted to operate in the State of California. Accordingly, on his motion, seconded <br />by Councilman McNulty, it was decided to require the carriers of insurance to be those <br />which comply with the requirements of the State of California and'are licensed to <br />operate in this State. <br />In this connection, on motion of Councilman Christensen, seconded by Coun- <br />cilman McNulty, the Mayor was asked and did appoint a committee of three to pass on <br />all insurance policies required to be furnished to the City by any person, firm or <br />corporation. The persons so appointed were Councilman E. A. Pletcher, C. G. Lambert <br />and J. H. D. Peters. <br />It was decided to meet next Monday, the 24th, and then have no more meetings until Septem- <br />bar ik due to several members of the Council attending the convention at Santa Monica. <br />The approved claims were ordered paid on motion of Councilman McNulty, seconded by Councilman <br />Christensen. <br />Adjournment to Monday.
