C <br />.7 <br />MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING <br />REDWOOD CITY COUNCIL <br />SEPTEMBER 21, 1936 <br />9:00 P.M. <br />Upon roll call, the following Councilmen were present: Mayor, Paul A. McCarthy, J. M. Eva, <br />E. A. Fletcher, Wm. Hohn, R. N. Jones, G. W. McNulty and City Clerk, B. E. Myers. <br />Absent: Councilman L. C. Christensen. <br />The minutes of the meetings of August 24 and September 14, 1936, were approved as mailed, on <br />motion of Councilman Hohn, seconded by Councilman Fletcher. <br />On motion of Councilman Eva, seconded by Councilman McNulty, Councilman Christensen was given <br />permission to leave the State, effective September 19. <br />On motion of Councilman Jones, seconded by Councilman Eva, Joe Castaneda of P-37 Hazel Avenue, <br />was given permission to hold a public dance at the Foresters Hall, October 24, with the <br />understanding that if it was not for some Fraternal Organization, he would pay the cus- <br />tomary fee, and that, also, no liquor should be sold in the same room where the dance is <br />held. <br />In a letter to the Council, the San Francisco Examiner asked that space be taken in a special <br />edition of that newspaper celebrating the San Francisco --Oakland Bay Bridge. Recommenda- <br />tion from the Chamber of Commerce was asked, and a letter was received from Roscoe D. <br />Wyatt, Manager, in which he said the Chamber did not consider it advisable to recommend <br />participation as requested by the San Francisco Examiner. Accordingly, no action was <br />taken other than to ask the Clerk to write the Examiner to that effect. <br />�i Ordinance No. 390, amending Pound Ordinance No. 307, and regulating particularly revocation of <br />i <br />dog licenses where it is found that the dog is dangerous or barks so much at nights as to <br />be a nuisance, upon motion of Councilman Jones, seconded by Councilman Hohn, was carried, <br />with Councilman Fletcher and McNulty voting "Noy'. <br />Ordinance No. 393, fixing the tax rate for the City of Redwood City for the fiscal year, was <br />unanimously adopted, on motion of Councilman Jones, seconded by Councilman McNulty. <br />Councilman Fletcher discussed the possibility of making the High School grounds more sightly <br />by removing the high fence which surrounds the campus at certain places. Accordingly, on <br />motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman Hohn, Mayor McCarthy appointed Coun- <br />cilmen Fletcher and Hohn, to act with the Mayor, as a committee to take up this matter <br />with the High School Board. <br />In an effort to establish a license Ordinance, applicable to public utilities, Mayor McCarthy <br />appointed Councilmen Eva, McNulty and Christensen to serve as a committee with the City <br />Attorney to work out a suitable charge or rate to be paid by the utilities in Redwood City. <br />The American Legion, on motion of Councilman Eva, seconded by Councilman Hohn, was given per- <br />mission to suspend an Armistice Dance sign along Claremont Avenue, west of the Highway, <br />provided insurance was carried. <br />Adjournment. <br />10 <br />City Clerk <br />BEM -MR <br />
