C <br />WHEREAS the organization in question is not a Redwood City organization, <br />and <br />WHEREAS the Fire House Auditorium is a public building, built and main- <br />tained by public monies of the taxpayers of Redwood City, and <br />WHEREAS there are numerous privately owned buildings which secure their <br />revenue by renting such buildings, and <br />WHEREAS Redwood City Post No. 105, American Legion Department of California, <br />is an organization composed of taxpayers of Redwood City, <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that Redwood City Post in regular meeting <br />assembled on this night of October 26, 1936, does protest the action of both the Fire <br />Department and the City Council and requests the Council to refuse the use of muni- <br />cipally owned buildings to any but duly organized groups of Redwood City residents. <br />JOHN N. LONG <br />Members of Committee <br />The resolution was ordered filed. <br />Councilman Hohn moved that the City Manager be made the custodian of all municipal buildings <br />with authority to regulate and grant the use of the same to any applicant. Motion lost <br />for want of a second. <br />There was read a letter from the Greater South Redwood Improvement Club requesting that the <br />City put up °Stop° signs on all streets leading into the Woodside Road. <br />referred to the City Manager. <br />Adjournment. <br />A'. M. <br />The matter was <br />Upon roll call, the following Councilmen were present: Mayor Paul A. McCarthy, L. C. Christensen, <br />J. 49. Eva, E. A. Fletcher, R. N. Jones, G. W. McNulty and City Clerk, B. E. Myers. Absent: <br />Councilman Wm. Hohn. <br />The minutes of the meetings of October 19 and October 26, 1936, were approved as mailed on motion <br />of Councilman Christensen, seconded by Councilman McNulty. <br />Capt. Murray of the Salvation Army appeared before the Council to ask permission to make money <br />solicitations in the City during the month of November. On motion of Councilman Eva, <br />seconded by Councilman Jones, permission was granted. <br />There was read a letter from the First National Bank, Redwood City, asking if anything could <br />�jJ be done toward payment of the 1915 Act Bonds which the bank held. The Clerk was instructed <br />y �r <br />to write the bank that the attorney had already talked with Mr. Harrison, the cashier, <br />about the refur_ding election to be held December S, 1936. <br />There was read a letter from the Redwood City Planning Commission indicating proposed changes <br />of set back_ lines between Whipple Avenue and Hopkins Avenue on Arch, Birch, Clinton and <br />other streets, and notifying the Council of a hearing to be held on November 17 concerning <br />.235 <br />
