<br />The Mayor appointed on the committee to attend said hearing Councilmen Christensen and
<br />Fletcher, City Manager Dimmitt, Perry Bygdnes and Roscoe D. Wyatt.
<br />The Council had considerable discussion on the protection of crossings and the City
<br />Manager was, on motion of Councilman Eva, seconded by Councilman Jones,, and carried,
<br />authorized to communicate with the Southern Pacific Qompany-stating that the, Council's
<br />desires for the protection of the crossings in Redwood. City were as follows, .,to -wit:
<br />Broadway, Jefferson, Main, Maple and Spruce Street crossings to be protected by a
<br />_. human flagman,,dressed in a distinctive uniform,•together with a spotlight placed
<br />upon a pole near the crossing and shining upon the crossing so that the flagman
<br />could be readily seen at night, the city to furnish and erect the spotlights.
<br />Brewster Avenue to remain with the same protection it now has, to -wit: gates.
<br />j Beech and Cedar Street crossings to remain with the same protection they haves at the
<br />{� present time, to -wit: wigwag signals.
<br />1 Rogers and Chestnut Street crossings to be protected with the latest two -train signal
<br />P device similar to the installation on the Britton Road crossing in San Carlos.
<br />The City Manager ,brought ,-up the. matter. of depositing the city's share of the money necessary
<br />to enable the Government to let their dredging contract in Redwood #iarbor, to -wit:
<br />$94,000, and on motion of Councilman Christensen, seconded by Councilman Eva, and
<br />carried, -the Treasurer was authorized and directed to deposit said sum of money with
<br />such governmental agency as was requested by,the Government of the United States.
<br />Councilman,Eva moved that an ordinance be prepared licensing amusement machine devices that
<br />are legal at the sum of $250 a year. Said motion was lost for a want of a second.
<br />Councilman Fletcher moved that an ordinance be prepared licensing amusement machine devices
<br />that are legal at the sum of $24,00 a year each. Councilman Christensen seconded the

<br />motion which was carried.
<br />Upon motion of Councilman Eva, seconded by Councilman Fletcher, and carried, the city con-
<br />tributed to the local chapter of the Red Cross the sum of $100 for flood relief, and the
<br />Treasurer was authorized to draw a warrant for the same.
<br />Upon motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman Jones, and carried, the city con-
<br />tributed to the San Mateo County Council Boy Scouts of America the sum of $75.00, and
<br />the Treasurer was authorized to draw a warrant for the same,
<br />Reports of the Tay, Collector and Chief of Police,were ordered filed.
<br />The approved claims presented were ordered paid on motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded
<br />by Councilman Jones, and carried.
