<br />Upon motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman McNulty, the authorization
<br />requested was granted.
<br />The City Tax Collector submitted the following letter to the Council:
<br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council
<br />Redwood City, California
<br />Gentlemen:
<br />On April 15, 1935, Ordinance No. 359, amending Ordinance No. 3279
<br />providing for penalties on delinquent taxes, was passed and adopted. Section 4
<br />of said ordinance reads as follows: "The provisions of the three preceding
<br />sections shall continue in force and effect up to and including the 5th day of
<br />December, 1935•11 This was an emergency ordinance and the City Council, by
<br />motion, has extended the time each year.
<br />As I am now computing the penalties on delinquent.1936-1937 taxes,
<br />may I ask that you please extend the time to December 31, 1939.
<br />I am attaching hereto a copy of Ordinance No. 359. Kindly note
<br />Section 40.

<br />Upon motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman McNulty, the extension of
<br />time in which the provision concerning penalties would apply was extended to April 20,
<br />1939.
<br />Upon request of Councilman Eva, and on motion of Councilman McNulty, seconded by Councilman
<br />Pletcher, it was decided to authorize Stone & Youngberg to allor to Hall, Marquardt &
<br />Company, of Los Angeles, a one point commission on all 1915 Act Bonds they pick up at
<br />the prices established by the Committee.
<br />Upon motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman Eva, the Clerk was asked to
<br />request service clubs to interest their members in the widening of El Camino Real
<br />from Broadway to the Santa Clara County line, with the suggestion that letters be
<br />written to the Railroad Commission and copies be forwarded to Senator Parkman and
<br />Assemblyman Call.
<br />Councilman Eva, seconded by Councilman Christensen, proposed the adoption of the following
<br />resolution supporting Assembly Bill No. 252:'
<br />WHEREAS, there is pending in the Exhibition and Pairs Committee of
<br />the California Assembly, Assembly Bill $252 which provides for an appropriation
<br />of $5,000,000, for a State exhibit for the purpose of advertising the State of
<br />California at the Golden Gate International Exposition in 1939, and
<br />WHEREAS, this bill further provides funds for a California Building,
<br />which will be the "host building" of the Exposition, and scenic attractions,
<br />wild life, educational, recreational, and administrative features of the State,
<br />and
<br />WHEREAS, every other.State in the West has taken steps to participate
<br />in the Exposition and to share in the economic benefits to be gained therefrom,
<br />and
<br />WHEREAS, the excess revenue to be derived from the Sales and Gasoline
<br />Taxes by the money that will be expended in California during and because of
<br />the Exposition, will be in excess of eleven million dollars ($11,000,000),
<br />THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Redwood
<br />City, being cognizant of the benefits which will accrue to the State and to
<br />its counties and cities from the Exposition as a whole and from an adequate
<br />State and County exhibit in particular does hereby endorse and urge passage
<br />of said Assembly Bill No. 252.
