Menifee appeared before the Council for Mrs. John Ryan (of the Humane <br />Society) in answer to the Clerk's request that the Society inform the Council <br />concerning its attitude toward a new ordinance requiring closer control over <br />e <br />dogs. Mr. Menifee indicated that the Society did not desire to object to any <br />ordinance the City Council should think necessary to pass. It was suggested <br />I <br />that perhaps Mr. Menifee could work with the City Attorney to find a solution <br />of this situation. <br />Joseph Fitzpatrick, representing Peter Besozzi, requested that Mr. Besozzi be given <br />n � <br />permission to add 27 feet to his frame building on E1 Camino Real below Five <br />' Points. The ch <br />� ange requested by Mr. Besozzi was recommended by the Planning <br />j. Commission due to the fact that the desired addition to the property could not <br />i <br />be made in front because of the widening of the highway. On motion of <br />Councilman Christensen, seconded by Councilman Fletcher, the permission was <br />granted. At the same time, tt was decided to change the fire district <br />ordinance to give the Council discretion to permit alterations or additions <br />to existing frame buildings in the fire zone. The attorney accordingly was <br />I r asked to prepare such an amendment, on motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded <br />by Councilman Jones. <br />I <br />Consideration of pin ball games was laid over until the second meeting in June, and <br />report or new City Hall was laid over until the next meeting. <br />I ' <br />j In connection with Senate Bill No. 196 having to do with 5% limitation on City <br />Budgets, the City Attorney, on motion of Councilman Christensen, seconded by <br />f <br />Councilman Fletcher, was authorized to write to Assemblyman Harrison M. Call <br />I <br />to oppose the legislation. <br />On motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman Christensen, it was <br />. decided to appropriate, and ordered expended, $35 from the City Advertising <br />Fund for advertisement of the Port of Redwood City in the Wall Street <br />0 Journal. <br />In a letter from the Southern Pacific Company, submitted by the City Manager, the <br />City was asked to pave the unpaved portion of James Avenue to the line of the <br />I Southern Pacific property. The Manager was instructed to write'the Company <br />i <br />that there were no funds available for such a purpose. <br />On motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman Christensen, Affidavit of <br />the City Clerk of Notification of Election Officers and Mailing of Sample <br />Ballots, was ordered filed. <br />I <br />, <br />Following this, the election returns for the harbor lands election were canvassed <br />and the tally list showed 4 votes for, with none against the proposition. <br />Therefore, on motion of Councilman Christensen, seconded by -Councilman <br />Fletcher, the election was declared carried, and the territory annexed to <br />!!! <br />I the City of Redwood City. <br />
