322 <br />George Boring, representing investors who wished to establish an auto camp on <br />E1 Camino Real below Five points, was referred to the Planning Commission. <br />Mayor McCarthy reported he was ready to appoint K. W. Van Gundy to membership <br />on the Planning Commission in place of John E. Layng whose term had <br />expired. However, the other members of the Council thought best to have <br />Mr. Layng reappointed, and on motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by <br />Councilman Jones, such reappointment was made. <br />Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman Eva, proposed adoption of the <br />following resolution: <br />RESOLVED, by the Council of the City of Redwood City, that <br />in conformity with Chapter 397 of the Statutes of 1931 of the <br />State of California, with amendments thereto and other laws, <br />that the minimum compensation to be paid for an skilledt or <br />unskilled labor for work to be perfomed in the improvement of <br />Hillview Avenue from the existing pavement near Hopkins Avenue <br />to the existing pavement near Brewster Avenue shall be not less <br />than specified as follows: <br />The foregoing schedule of per diem wages is based upon a work- <br />ing day of eight hours, except as otherwise noted. The hourly wage <br />rate prescribed hereinabove is the per diem rate divided by the afore - <br />.'mentioned ndmber of hours constituting a working day. <br />The above schedule of wage rates is the general prevailing rate <br />of per diem wages for work of a similar character in the locality in <br />which the work described above is to be performed. <br />..Rates for legal holidays and -Sundays shall be double the rate <br />hereinabove described. <br />Rates for overtime shall be one and one-half (11.) times the rates <br />hereinabove described. "------------------Resolution Carridd" <br />There were ordered filed affidavit of City Clerk for the posting of plans, profiles, <br />specifications and the affidavit of publication in the Redwood City Tribune <br />for work described in Resolution of Intention No. 1937-3 of notice inviting <br />sealed proposals. <br />No bids for doing the work under Resolution of Intention 1937-3 were received up <br />to 8 p. m. Therefore, Councilman McNulty, seconded by Councilman Jones, <br />proposed adoption of resolution that new bids be called for an opened at <br />8 o'clock the night of October 4, being the next regular meeting.
