to have a definite proposal from Clyde Henry, the owner of the water system, it was decided, on motion of Councilman McNulty, seconded by Councilman Jones, to continue the hearing on this petition until the next meeting. Councilman McNulty made report concerning the subsequent meeting of the Library Board con- cerning the choice of an architect for the proposed new building. He told the Council that J. H. Mitchell of Burlingame had finally been selected. The City Attorney was therefore instructed to draw up the necessary agreement to be entered into between the architect and the City in which should be set forth the necessary stipulations regulating the employment of Mr. Mitchell. The City Attorney reported that everything had been done about getting the title to the library property straightened out and that the high school trustees at their meet- ing May 20 would complete everything necessary for a final adjustment. He also read a copy of a letter he had written to the Attorney General about the title to the cemetery, but indicated that he had no reply to this letter nor to several others he had written to different people. He reported in connection with the proposed ordinance regulating real estate signs that the members of the Real Estate Board had agreed among themselves to dispense with all signs on property and that it was therefore unnecessary at this time to' pass any ordinance. Mr. Mansfield also thought in regard to barber signs that a new or amended ordinance was unnecessary as the provision of Ordinance No. 309 seemed to cover all that was necessary. He asked for further information concerning the plans of the Council about buying the harbor lands and was told to draw up contract of purchase as outlined in the letter from the committee recommending the purchase; that is, $2,500 down, $7,500 in July, 1939, and the balance by August 1, 1939. The attorney reported, concerning the desire of the Council to have an easement from A. J. Fromm for a portion of Wharf Street, that he had not been able to see Mr. Fromm but would try to do so before the next meeting. The City Manager reported having sent notices to all adjacent property owners near 906 Arguello Street concerning the desire of the Redwood City Lodge of Moose to use that particular location for a lodge hall and club rooms and that there had been no protest. Therefore, it was decided, on motion of Councilman Anderson, seconded by Councilman Jones, to grant the permit requested by this organization. J 1 J
