The City Clerk had also written to the Better Business Bureau of Los Angeles and also the one in San Francisco about this organization. Finally, on motion of Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman Fletcher, the organ- ization was given the right to hold a flower sale in Redwood City on July 30. Councilman McCarthy made a brief report concerning the meeting of the various groups in regard to the Housing Authority plan. Mr. J. F. Craig appeared before the Council to complain about the conditions at 7114 Roosevelt, which is between Hudson and Grand, claiming that the conditions were a public nuisance. However, no action was taken, but the City Attorney was asked to get a copy of the ordinance of the City of Burlingame pertaining to such conditions. L. E. Werder appeared before the Council on the following: The California Pacific Title and Trust Company wished to clear the title to Lots 914 and 96, Map No. 1, Subdivision No. 2, of a portion of Wellesley Park, but one encumbrance was a 1911 Act Bond against each lot. The treasurer's record showed no payments having been made against the particular assessment, but there was submitted a letter signed by Clark Rice to whom the original bonds were given for the work in which he said, "I have received in full all monies due for Bonds Nos. 12 and 13, Series 13.11 In the absence of the bond, the City Treasurer did not want to clear these lots, but on motion of Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman Fletcher, he was authorized to do so. Frank DePatta, for the Clean Up Committee, asked what was the present status of action against property at 936 Fulton Street, 331 Heller, 2061 Broadway, and barn in 1300 block Middlefield Road. The Clerk was instructed to write letters to the owners of the Fulton and Heller Street property insisting that something be done about them before the next Council meeting. The attorney said he had written the owner of the barn property, but had not re- ceived a reply as yet. On motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Council- man McCarthy, the attorney was instructed to institute proceedings for abate- ment against the property at 2061 Broadway. The Clerk was instructed to put on the agenda for the next meeting report on the Behrens' barn. Mr. DePatta also asked whether or not it would be possible to have lights on Broad- way, between Main and Chestnut, Thursday nights for certain organizations who wished to drill there.
