434 <br />MINUTES OF ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING <br />REDWOOD CITY COUNCIL <br />AUGUST 29, 1938 <br />8:00 P. -M. <br />Upon roll call the following were present: Councilmen H. F. Anderson, E. A. Fletcher, <br />Wm. Hohn, R. N. Jones, P. A. McCarthy, G. W. McNulty, Mayor L. C. Christensen, <br />and City Clerk B. E. Myers. <br />The minutes of the adjourned regular meetings of August 22 and 23 were approved on <br />motion of Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman Anderson. <br />There was read a letter from Mrs. S. E. Underhill, owner of property on Stambaugh <br />Street, requesting that Cedar Street be opened and continued from Stambaugh to <br />Hilton Street. The Clerk was instructed to write Mrs. Underhill that the City <br />was without funds to do the work, and that it would be too expensive to place <br />the burden on the property owners. <br />The City Tax Collector submitted the following letter: <br />ItOn August 15, 1938, City Manager C. L. Dimmitt recommended <br />that the sum of (`927.73 be accepted in settlement of the <br />charges on the following property instead of 01641.59 actually <br />due if the total amount was paid in full. The property re- <br />ferred to is Arbitrary Block 270, Lot 5 or legal description <br />Lots 1-2, Block B. Boyd & Kent Addition, assessed in the name <br />of G. Bulleri and wife, who reside at 103 Hemlock Avenue. <br />Delinquent Taxes 14.84 <br />It Assessment K-4 1124.80 <br />Tax Penalty -cost 21.31 <br />Bond Assessment Penalty 341.20 <br />Balance on Bond Assessment <br />(not yet due) Principal 130.32 <br />Interest 9.12 <br />Total ...............t,1641.59 <br />Bond Series K-4 was issued on November 19, 1925 in the amount <br />of Principal $1303.22 and Interest $561.47, making a total of <br />$1564.69. <br />On June 15, 1936, Mr. Bulleri began making monthly payments on <br />the delinquent amount and to date has paid the sum of 0460.23, <br />this being credited to tax, bond assessment and penalty. <br />Will you please confirm the above authorization?" <br />Authorization as requested was given. <br />There was read a letter from E. J. Patterson, Secretary of the Communist Party of <br />San Mateo County, asking that the Communist party be allowed to hold a public <br />meeting in the Council Chamber on the evening of September 28. Permission <br />granted on motion of Councilman Anderson, seconded by Councilman Fletcher. <br />On motion of Councilman Jones, seconded by Councilman Anderson, the City Manager was <br />authorized to arrange for a booth at the County Fiesta at a cost not to exceed <br />$50. <br />Cl <br />(I <br />I <br />9 <br />
