1 <br />3 <br />On motion. of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman Anderson, the City Manager <br />was authorized to take over the flag pole and flag from the County at a cost <br />which might run as high as x$`300. <br />There was read a letter from Walter Vandervort in which he expressed his appreciation <br />and gratitude to the City Council for the assistance given him in building up the <br />business for his bus line throughout the City. <br />C. G. Uhlenberg, special auditor, submitted 8 copies of his final report which were <br />accepted by the Council. He also included in his letter of transmission a re- <br />quest that he be reappointed for the ensuing fiscal year at a price not to exceed <br />P500. At the same time there was also read a letter from George B. Middleton, <br />C. P. A. of Alameda, offering to do the audit for the same price, $500. It was <br />decided, on motion of Councilman Jones, seconded by Councilman Fletcher, to re- <br />appoint Mr. Uhlenberg for the ensuing year according to his proposal. <br />After filing affidavit of publication of Notice Inviting Sealed Proposals for the work <br />to be done on Nevada Street under Resolution of Intention No. 1938-4, bids were <br />opened with the following result: <br />Name . C. <br />Totals <br />.3,624.04 <br />4,607.35 <br />3,919.05 <br />4.389.10 <br />After ascertaining the lowest bidder, Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman <br />Jones, proposed the adoption of the following: <br />'RESOLUTION OF AWARD NO. 1938-4 <br />WHEREAS, The Council of the City of Redwood City did, in open session on <br />the 29th day of August, 1938, publicly open, examine and declare all sealed <br />proposals or bids for doing the following work and making the following im- <br />provements in said City of Redwood City, to wit: <br />That Nevada Street be improved from the existing pavement near <br />Brewster Avenue to the existing pavement near Hopkins Avenue, by <br />being graded for the entire width of said Street between said points <br />of existing pavement, and by having construction on both sides of <br />said Nevada Street combined cement concrete curbs and gutters and <br />be constructing between said combined curbs and gutters a 4 -inch <br />stabilized slurry base pavement with a 1 inch asphaltic armour coat <br />wearing surface. <br />The width of that portion of Nevada Street hereinbefore mention- <br />ed, and the width of the roadway thereof and the width of the side- <br />walks thereof are to be and are, as shown on the plans, profiles, and <br />detailed drawings hereinafter referred to herein. <br />435 <br />
