Mg <br />R <br />MINUTES OF SPECIAL ADJOURNED MEETING <br />REDWOOD CITY COUNCIL <br />OCTOBER 239 1933 <br />5,:00 P. M. <br />Upon roll call, the following Councilmen were present: Mayor, W. J. Dusel, H. A. Beeger, C. J. <br />Hildebrant, R. N. Jones, C. G. Lambert, Paul A. McCarthy, Geo..W. McNulty, City Clerk, <br />B. E. Myers. Absent: None. <br />Elizabeth Atkinson of the Atkinson Realty Company, accompanied by a Mrs. Webster, asked the <br />Council whether or not there would be any objection to erecting a home for Chinese children, <br />6 and under, under the auspices of the Presbyterian Synod on the N. W. a of Lot 6, Valota <br />Park- Subdivision, being 22 acres more or less, located on the easterly line -of Valota Road.. <br />In order to enable the City Manager and Health Officer to investigate the sanitary conditions <br />and the possibility of extending the sewer to the building site, the matter was laid over <br />until. the next meeting. <br />Ida Mae Tuttle, representing the Goodwill Industries of San Francisco, asked if there could be <br />any objection on the part of the City if the Goodwill Industry track came.to Redwood to -pick <br />up material.at the homes of people in Redwood City who had specifically asked them to come. <br />Under the circumstances, she was assured that it would be all right. <br />Floyd Granger, representing the American Legion who are to give a dance on November 11, asked <br />permission.to string a banner on the highway. On motion of Councilman Lambert, seconded <br />by Councilman Hildebrant, permission was granted provided that in hanging the banner all <br />City regulations were complied with to the satisfaction of the Building Inspector. <br />In connection with the discussion concerning the banners across the streets, reference was made <br />to the High School banner across E1 Camino Real and Chief of Police Collins was instructed <br />to have it removed as it had not been erected according to City regulations. <br />The Clerk read a letter from J. J. Jordan, Superintendent of the Southern Pacific Company, con— <br />cerning the condition of the company's property along Perry Street, in which he indicated <br />that an effort would be made to eliminate the difficulties mentioned in correspondence <br />from the City. The Clerk was instructed to write him a letter of appreciation and his <br />willingness to cooperate. <br />The question of the adoption of resolution designating highways through Redwood City again came <br />up for discussion, but on motion of Councilman Beeger, seconded by Councilman Hildebrant, <br />the matter was laid on the table for future action. <br />On motion of Councilman McNulty, seconded by Councilman Hildebrant, Frank Pena Urquiza was <br />given anDon-salell alcoholic beverage license for 2350 E1 Camino Real. <br />On motion of Councilmen Jones, seconded by Councilman McCarthy, the City Manager and the City <br />�f <br />Engineer were authorized, by the following resolution, to make application to the Public <br />{Yorks Administration for approval of plans and specifications for the construction of <br />additional storm sewers in Redwood City embodying in the application a request for a 30% <br />Grant of the cost of materials and labor. <br />Adjournment. <br />BEM:MR *I, Cc t5- tAe- <br />4 . e-.
