Mg R MINUTES OF SPECIAL ADJOURNED MEETING REDWOOD CITY COUNCIL OCTOBER 239 1933 5,:00 P. M. Upon roll call, the following Councilmen were present: Mayor, W. J. Dusel, H. A. Beeger, C. J. Hildebrant, R. N. Jones, C. G. Lambert, Paul A. McCarthy, Geo..W. McNulty, City Clerk, B. E. Myers. Absent: None. Elizabeth Atkinson of the Atkinson Realty Company, accompanied by a Mrs. Webster, asked the Council whether or not there would be any objection to erecting a home for Chinese children, 6 and under, under the auspices of the Presbyterian Synod on the N. W. a of Lot 6, Valota Park- Subdivision, being 22 acres more or less, located on the easterly line -of Valota Road.. In order to enable the City Manager and Health Officer to investigate the sanitary conditions and the possibility of extending the sewer to the building site, the matter was laid over until. the next meeting. Ida Mae Tuttle, representing the Goodwill Industries of San Francisco, asked if there could be any objection on the part of the City if the Goodwill Industry track came.to Redwood to -pick up material.at the homes of people in Redwood City who had specifically asked them to come. Under the circumstances, she was assured that it would be all right. Floyd Granger, representing the American Legion who are to give a dance on November 11, asked permission.to string a banner on the highway. On motion of Councilman Lambert, seconded by Councilman Hildebrant, permission was granted provided that in hanging the banner all City regulations were complied with to the satisfaction of the Building Inspector. In connection with the discussion concerning the banners across the streets, reference was made to the High School banner across E1 Camino Real and Chief of Police Collins was instructed to have it removed as it had not been erected according to City regulations. The Clerk read a letter from J. J. Jordan, Superintendent of the Southern Pacific Company, con— cerning the condition of the company's property along Perry Street, in which he indicated that an effort would be made to eliminate the difficulties mentioned in correspondence from the City. The Clerk was instructed to write him a letter of appreciation and his willingness to cooperate. The question of the adoption of resolution designating highways through Redwood City again came up for discussion, but on motion of Councilman Beeger, seconded by Councilman Hildebrant, the matter was laid on the table for future action. On motion of Councilman McNulty, seconded by Councilman Hildebrant, Frank Pena Urquiza was given anDon-salell alcoholic beverage license for 2350 E1 Camino Real. On motion of Councilmen Jones, seconded by Councilman McCarthy, the City Manager and the City �f Engineer were authorized, by the following resolution, to make application to the Public {Yorks Administration for approval of plans and specifications for the construction of additional storm sewers in Redwood City embodying in the application a request for a 30% Grant of the cost of materials and labor.
