On motion of Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman McNulty, the City Manager and Attorney were authorized to ascertain the condition of certain insurance companies expecially those in which the City is interested and to place the city insurance elsewheise if the investigation proves the other insurance companies' cost unsuitable, also to give a notice of cancellation of policies and to make claim for refund of balance of premium. The approved claims were ordered paid on motion of Councilman McNulty, seconded by Councilman Hildebrant. Adjournment to 9:00 o'clock P.M., January 23, 1933. BEM:MR .y7. 4-. CITY MINUTES OF SPECIAL ADJOURNED MEETING REDWOOD CITY COUNCIL JANUARY 23+ 1933 9:00 P.M. Upon roll call, the following Councilmen were present: Mayor W. J. Dusel, H. A. Seeger, R. N. Jones, C. J. Hildebrant, C. G. Lambert, Paul A. McCarthy, Geo. W. McNulty, City Clerk, B. E. Myers. Absent: None. Mr. Isaias N. Castro applied to the Council for permission to operate a pool room and soft drink establishment at 2244 State Highway near Five Points. The matter was referred to Chief Collins to report back at the next meeting. On motion of Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman Hildebrant, it was decided to appropriate $50.00 as a subscription to the League of California Municipalities to aid in procuring legis— lation affecting the placing of gas tax money within the municipality. Councilman Beeger spoke about damage to his property at the corner of Perry Street and Broadway due to the loose rock from the Southern Pacific Company's property. The City Clerk was instructed to writethe Southern Pacific Company to see if something could be done about it. On motion of Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman Hildebrant, the Council appropriated $50.00 as a donation for the Girl Scouts. The Emerald Lake water Company, by'its President, George Leonard and Vice—President, C. H. Holt, addressed N common cation to the Council offering to transfer to the City of Redwood City the water system and properties of the Emerald Lake Water Company.
