However, after considering the circum- <br />stances and the location of the buildings and their use, it was decided to <br />permit the construction to continue, this on motion of Councilman Fletcher, <br />seconded by Councilman Anderson. <br />i Wayne Millington, representing certain property owners, presented to the Council <br />a petition signed by some 100 people in which request was made that some- <br />thing be done toward getting sidewalks along James Street from F`alton Street <br />west. Mr. Millington was told that this matter had been before the Council <br />many times and that the members of the Council were in complete sympathy with <br />the idea, but had had difficulty in finding a way to finance the improvement. <br />It was suggested that possibly the work might be put through as a 47. P. A. <br />project, and in line with this thought, on motion of Councilman Anderson, <br />seconded by Councilman Fletcher, the City Manager was authorized to make <br />application for W. P. A. help. <br />Alfred Morton, City Recreational Director, submitted to the Council a set of rules <br />appertaining to the regulation of the Redwood City Rifle Range, and after <br />Chief Collins had approved them, they were accepted and ordered by the <br />Council on motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman McNulty. <br />i <br />The question of what to do about regulating bicycle riding was laid over until <br />the meeting of November 7. <br />Ordinance No. 414 providing for the incurring of $97,000 indebtedness and the <br />issuing of bonds therefor (City Hall and Library) was adopted on motion of <br />Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman Jones. <br />Ordinance No. 415 fixing the place of meeting for the City Council was adopted <br />on motion of Councilman Hohn, seconded by Councilman Anderson. <br />Ordinance No. 416, amending Ordinance No. 251 and specifically providing for the <br />width of buildings on residential lots, was adopted on motion of Councilman <br />McCarthy, seconded by Councilman McNulty. <br />Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman Anderson, proposed the adoption of the <br />following resolution which carried. <br />11RESOLUTION APPROVING DIAGRAM OF ASSESSMENT DISTRICT UNDER <br />RESOLUTION OF INTENTION NO. 1936-4, AND DESIGNATING NEWSPAPER. <br />RESQLVF,D, by -the Council of the City of Redwood City, County <br />i of San Mateo, State of California, that the diagram of the <br />assessment district under Resolution of Intention No. 1938-4, <br />passed and adopted by the Council of the City of Redwood City <br />X60 -E <br />
