1 <br />1 <br />0 <br />ITEM 12. — For EIGHT (8) inch Gate Valves, furnished and installed complete, the <br />sum of Forty—five Dollars ($115.00) each. <br />ALTERNATE BID FOR COLUMNS. <br />(Substitution of Redwood Columns for Gunite) <br />ITEM 6. — For all redwood in columns, including all incidental work and materials,, <br />complete and in place, the sum of Seventy Dollars ($70.00) per 1,000 <br />feet B.M. <br />On -motion, of Councilman'Beeger, seconded by•Councilman Hildebrant, the contract for this!. <br />work"was a*arded to W. J. TOBIN, subject to approval by the United States Public Works <br />Administration. The other Bids were as follows, all bids being based on unit prices on <br />quantities estimated by the Engineer: <br />1. <br />Charles L. Harney <br />$23,6511.00 <br />2. <br />W. 0. Snook <br />2291169.62 <br />Mayor Dusel asked the Clerk to read a letter from the State Board of Equalization regarding <br />the granting of licenses to applicants in Redwood City. It was decided that Chief Collins <br />and the City Manager would pass upon the desirability of the applicants and in cases where <br />there was any question, they would consult with Councilman Beeger and Councilman Lambert. <br />On motion of Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman Hildebrant, and unanimously carried, <br />a Gas Code Ordinance was introduced. <br />George Solari, representing the Foresters Hall Association, asked permission to rent the hall <br />for a dance to be held Sunday night, December 31. On motion of Councilman McCarthy, <br />seconded by Councilman Hildebrant, he was given permission to do so. <br />M. E. Byan, Chief of the Fire Department, desired permission of the'Couricil to send Joseph L. <br />Lodi to San Francisco to serve a training period with the San Francisco Fire Department. <br />On motion of Councilman Beeger, seconded by Councilman McCarthy, Fireman Lodi was given <br />permission to go, and the Mayor and -Clerk were authorized to sign the form of release <br />desired by the San Francisco Fire Department with the understanding that liability was <br />covered by'the City's Compensation Insurance. <br />On motion of Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman Hildebrant, an ordinance was introduced <br />approving an agreement with the United States of America concerning the Emerald'Lake project <br />and authorizing the City Manager to execute said agreement. Carried. <br />The departmental reports were ordered filed. <br />The approved claims were ordered paid on motion of Councilman Beeger, seconded by Councilman <br />Hildebrant. <br />Adjournment. <br />BEM.MR <br />City Clerk <br />.51 <br />
