F <br />69 <br />MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING <br />F=OOD CITY COUNCIL <br />APRIL 16, 1934 <br />8:00 P.M. <br />Upon roll call, the following Councilmen were present:- Mayor..T(.;J. Dwell &.:A. Seeger, <br />C. J. Hildebrant, R. Ni, Jones, C_. G. Lambert, Paul A. McCart�. Geo. R. McNulty. City <br />Clerk, B. E. Myers. Absent: None. <br />The minutes of the meeting of April 2 were approved on motion of Councilman Jones",. seconded <br />by Councilman McNulty. <br />C. G. Uhlenberg, special accountant serving as outside auditor for the city, filed a letter <br />indicating that the accounts of the city, the cash balances at the banks, and bonds de— <br />posited as collateral, had all been checked and satisfactorily accounted for. <br />Alden Jack, c/o The Shearer Electric Service, -54 Devonshire Street, R.F.D. Redwood City, <br />, - <br />filed application for electrical contractor's license accompanied by the.proper fee. <br />On motion of Councilman Jones, seconded by Councilman Hildebrant, the license was <br />granted. <br />Mrs. N. L. Miramontes, City Tax Collector, asked whether or not the Council wished to grant <br />an extension of time for the payment -of the second installment of taxes before assessing <br />penalties. The matter was referred to the City Manager. . <br />The Redwood City Humane Society, in a written communication, asked the Council to contribute <br />toward the expense of the pet show to be held in May. On motion of --Councilman McCarthy, <br />seconded by Councilman Hildebrant, the matter was laid over _until the next meeting. <br />The Clerk read quite a long report prepared by the City Manager covering the development of <br />municipal activities in Redwood City since the adoption of the Charter in 1929• On <br />,f <br />motion of Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman Hildebrant, the report was ordered. <br />filed. <br />Councilman McCarthy reported concerning his interview with the representative of the Pacific <br />Greyhound Bus Lines in regard to the service through Redwood City and suggested that <br />this matter be taken up at the,next Council meeting. <br />Ordinance No. 349, regulating the hours of parking on Theatre Street and a portion of Hamilton <br />Street, came up for final adoption. After filing affidavit of The Redwood City Tribune <br />showing publication, the Orflinance was adopted by unanimous vote, on motion of Councilman <br />Hildebrant, seconded by Councilman McNulty. Full text on page 176 of Ordinance Book No. 3. <br />Councilman Lambert explained that -the idea had been to create a rather large committee to <br />handle the affairs of the Emerald Lske Bowl, but that before the committee had been formed <br />arrangements had been made to have the Boy Scouts) Band play there on the afternoon of <br />April 29, and he had taken it upon himself to give permission for this concert. He asked <br />that the Council go on record as approving it, which was done on motion of Councilman <br />McCarthy, seconded by Councilman Jones. <br />The departmental reports were ordered filed. <br />The approved claims were ordered paid on motion of Councilman McNulty, seconded by Councilman <br />Hildebrant. <br />
