MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING <br />FMOOD CITY COUNCIL <br />APRIL 21 1931E <br />9:00 P.M. <br />Upon roll call, the following Councilmen were present: Mayor, W. J. Dusel, H. A. Beeger, <br />C. J. Hildebrant, R. N. Jones, C. G. Lambert, Paul A. McCarthy, Geo. W. McNulty. City Clerk, <br />B. E. Myers. Absent: None. <br />The minutes of the meeting of March 19 were approved on motion of Councilman McNulty, seconded <br />by Councilman Hildebrant. <br />L. A. Heiner again appeared regarding permit for the erection of a service station on his lot at <br />the corner of E1 Camino Real and Jefferson Avenue stating that the Building Inspector could <br />not give him a permit because certain conditions were not fully understood. He explained <br />that his tenant intended to place the main building back 21 feet, but that the pumps, or <br />"island", would be placed temporarily within the 17 foot setback proposed, with the under— <br />standing, however, that when and if the highway were widened this would be removed without <br />expense to the city or the Highway Commission. With this understanding, permit was granted <br />on motion of Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman Lambert. <br />D. L. Walter, on motion of Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman Beeger, was granted permit <br />to erect a service station on Lots 11 and 12, Block 52, Eastern Addition, effective April 5, <br />provided no referendum against it were filed before that date. <br />H. A. Postlethwaite appeared before the Council concerning his correspondence with the City Attor— <br />ney relative to the payment of delinquent bonds and interest of Series X-12, Extension of <br />Broadway. Mr. Postlethwaite insisted that the city take some action, or it would be necessary <br />for him to file suit. The Attorney was instructed to prepare the necessary papers for taking <br />final action -at the first meeting in May, the 7th. <br />On motion of Councilman Hildebrant, seconded by Councilman Beeger, there was introduced and ordi— <br />nance regulating the hours of parking upon Theatre Street and a portion of Hamilton Street. <br />Letters were read from the Loyal Order of Moose and from E1 Camino Lodge, Knights of Pythias, con— <br />cerning the proposed ordinance covering commercial card games, and were ordered filed. <br />Councilman Jones asked if it would not be a good idea for the city to set aside definitely the <br />$2,150 in connection with the work on the Woodside Road. He stated he thought this would <br />make it a bit easier to get the same amount of money from the county. It was finally decided, <br />on motion of Councilman Jones, seconded by Councilman Seeger, that the city do this and the <br />Clerk was instructed to notify the Board of Supervisors of San Mateo County to that affect <br />and ask them to set aside their share of the money. <br />The departmental reports were ordered filed. <br />The approved claims were ordered paid on motion of Councilman McNulty, seconded. by Councilman <br />Hildebrant. <br />Adjournment. <br />BEM:MR <br />P.E./i <br />City Clerk <br />U <br />
