72 <br />l <br />MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING <br />R=OOD CITY COUNCIL <br />MAY 79 193+ <br />B:OO,p.m. <br />Upon roll call, the following Councilmen were present: Mayor C. G. Lambert, L. C. Christensen, <br />J. kd. Eva, E. A. Pletcher, R. N. Jones, Paul A. McCarthy, Geo. W. McNulty. <br />The minutes of the meeting of April 16 were approved as mailed. <br />The Clerk was instructed to acknowledge receipt to the Industrial Accident Commission of one <br />copy "Liquefied Petroleum Gases Safety Orders", one copy "Electrical Safety Orders for <br />19311, one copy of "Compressed Air Safety Orders" and was instructed to place the safety <br />orders on file; this on motion of Councilman_McCarthy, seconded by Councilman McNulty. <br />Mr. B. A. Dixon, representing the Standard Oil Company, asked permission of the Council to <br />erect on Standard Oil property two illuminated sign panels 251 x 151 at E1 Camino Real <br />and Claremont, and on Broadway adjacent to the Southern Pacific Track, with the tinder— f <br />standing that the panels would be of metal and painted. On motion of Councilman Pletcher, <br />seconded by Councilman McCarthy, permit was granted revocable at the pleasure of the 1 <br />E <br />t <br />Board. <br />N. Clayton, 605 West Poplar Street, San Mateo, asked permission of the Council to erect <br />greenhouses and carry on a florist business on the right hand side of the Woodside Road <br />just beyond the cemetery. As the plan had been approved by the Planning Commission, per— <br />mission was given. <br />A Mr. Erdman suggested that the Council do something about more careful inspection of the <br />meats furnished by the U. S. Government and given for local relief. Mr. E. M. Rowland <br />in charge of the local Relief Office stated that the City Health Officer had already <br />passed on the meats. However, in view of the complaint, on motion of Councilman McCarthy, <br />seconded by Councilman Pletcher, the Health Officer was instructed to get in touch with <br />the County Health Inspection Department to be sure that no spoilt meats were dispensed for <br />local relief. <br />As a matter of unfinished business, the question of bus line traffic through Redwood City was <br />brought up, but Councilman McCarthy who had made a previous report was of the opinion that y <br />at the present time the matter be laid on the table, and it was so ordered, <br />3 <br />The City Attorney made a progress report concerning the 1915 Bond situation for the extension <br />of Broadway and indicated that he was trying to see the attorney representing Mr. Knapp, <br />the owner of the bonds, and was also getting in touch with some of the property owners, <br />and perhaps could make a more complete report at the next meeting. <br />In a letter for the Board of Supervisors, the County Clerk informed the Council that the <br />$2,150 requested for the county's share of the Woodside Road improvement, would not be <br />available until after the beginning of the next budget year, July lot. The Council agreed <br />to have Councilman Jones follow this up and work with the County Budget Committee and if <br />expedient have former Councilman Beeger work with him as the latter was quite familiar with <br />the situation. <br />In a letter dated April 14, the Redwood City Humane Society, by its President, Lira. J. E. Ryan, <br />i <br />asked for a contribution from the Council toward the expense of its annual Pet Show. On <br />motion of Councilman Pletcher, seconded by Councilman McNulty, $10.00 was appropriated for <br />i <br />I <br />
