N <br />•S <br />Councilman Fletcher proposed, seconded by Councilman McCarthy, an ordinance (No. 351) amending <br />Section 9 of Ordinance No. 319, and providing for special licenses as enumerated therein. <br />Following up the report of the Committee on delinquent tax penalties, it was decided, after <br />discussion, to authorize the City Attorney to prepare an ordinance amending the present <br />tax ordinance, to provide a penalty of 10% on the first installment, and an additional 5% <br />if not paid by Apri1.20, and a 5% penalty on the second installment if not paid by April 20, <br />with a charge of 1% per month following July 19 plus any publication costs. <br />Councilman Eva proposed, seconded by Councilman Fletcher, that the Council take from the table <br />and reconsider the resolution pertaining to the consolidation of the offices of City Mana— <br />ger, City Engineer and Building Inspector. Motion carried. In connection with this point, <br />the City Manager filed a written statement setting forth the duties and the activities of <br />the ,three offices. After some discussion, and the request to postpone decision until Coun— <br />cilman Jones could be present, the final roll call showed three for and three against this <br />part of the resolution, and the motion to consolidate these offices was lost. <br />In taking up the consideration of the other paragraphs, it was requested, and permitted, to in— <br />elude the salary of the City Attorney with other department heads. Finally, on motion.of <br />Councilman Eva, seconded by Councilman Fletcher, it was moved to adopt Exhibit A of the <br />former resolution, including the office of City Attorney. On roll call, the motion was <br />lost, three voting for, and three against the motion. <br />The City Manager asked the attitude of the Council toward granting J. B. Perry permission to <br />erect a corrugated steel building on his property at the corner of Main and Shasta Streets <br />with the understanding that a small portion of the building extend over into the fire <br />limits. On motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman Eva, permission was <br />given. <br />On motion of Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman Eva, the City Treasurer was authorized <br />to borrow from the Cuter Fund sufficient money to buy Redwood City Improvement Bonds, <br />Series J-14, par value $4,500 at a price of 55• <br />The approved claims were ordered paid on motion of Councilman McNulty, seconded by Councilman <br />Fletcher. <br />Adjournment. <br />BEM:MR <br />k <br />City <br />ij <br />it <br />
