i <br />T <br />C� <br />on motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman Anderson, sub- <br />ject to the action of the Planning Commission. <br />W. T. Chapple asked permission to erect a sign on vacant property located <br />about 110 feet northwesterly from Brewster Avenue facing on the Bayshore <br />Highway. On motion of Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman <br />McNulty, the request was denied. <br />On motion of Councilman Anderson, seconded by Councilman Fletcher, there was <br />introduced ordinance amending Ordinance No. 319 and particularly apply- <br />ing to the licensing of contractors. <br />On motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman Anderson, Ordinance <br />No. 431 granting permission to the City of San Francisco to construct <br />a sanitary sewer was adopted. <br />Robert Mood again addressed the Council concerning the hiring of persons who <br />were not entitled to be employees of Redwood City because of their <br />residence, but no action was taken. <br />The California Mission Trails Association, by its secretary -manager, asked <br />that the City Council proclaim the week of January S as "Mission Trails <br />Week" in Redwood City, and it was so ordered on motion of Councilman <br />Fletcher, seconded by Councilman Anderson. <br />Councilman McCarthy, for the committee on licenses, presented a preliminary <br />report for discussion and consideration. with possible action at sub- <br />sequent meeting. <br />The City Attorney promised to report at the next council meeting concerning <br />the progress on the Cedar Street opening. <br />A. J. Wilbe of 1002 Arlington Road, Redwood City, filed with the City Manager <br />an itemized bill for amounts still due him in connection with the exhibit <br />of the model home, amounting in all to $957.25. After discussion ranging <br />from a willingness to pay some, down to not paying any at all, Councilman <br />McCarthy, seconded by Councilman Fletcher, moved that the City pay at <br />least Wo of the amount. Councilman Hohn, seconded by Councilman Jones, <br />moved to amend the motion to read that the $450 be accepted as payment <br />in full for the obligation. The amendment carried, but Councilman <br />McCarthy voted "No". Upon putting the original motion with the amend- <br />ment, it was carried unanimously. <br />The Tax Collector submitted the following letter: <br />105 <br />
