There was presented to the Council the interpretation by the Attorney General <br />of the law concerning city payment of group insurance. The City Attorney <br />explained that certain situations would likely clarify this matter and <br />recommended that consideration be postponed until the next meeting, at <br />which time he would be prepared to make a definite report. <br />On motion of Councilman Werder, seconded by Councilman McNulty, the Council <br />concurred in the recommendation of the Planning Commission that Mrs. M. <br />Chapman be permitted to subdivide Lot 5, Block 13, Oak Knoll Manor, into <br />three lots, according to sketch submitted. <br />On motion of Councilman Christensen, seconded by Councilman Werder, the Council <br />concurred in the recommendation of the city Planning Commission that H. J. <br />Dunlop be granted permission to subdivide a portion of Lot 14, Block 10, <br />Oak Knoll Manor, at the northeast corner of Brewster Avenue and Foothill <br />Boulevard, according to sketch submitted. <br />In a letter to the Council the city Planning Commission recommended that John E. <br />McCarthy be permitted to subdivide Lots 1, 21 3, and 4, Block 6, Central <br />Park, at the corner of Grand and Jefferson, according to sketch submitted. <br />It was thought possible that the adjacent property owners might consider <br />the new alignment of lots objectionable, but Mr. McCarthy was told that <br />I� if there be no objection on the part of the neighbors, that his request <br />would be allowed. But if there should be any objection, a hearing in be- <br />half of both parties would be arranged; this on motion of Councilman <br />Edmonds, seconded by Councilman Christensen. <br />Mr. Bernard. McCann, director of the Municipal Band, was authorized to arrange <br />for the purchase of material and the making of a skirt for the drum majorette. <br />Ludwig Werder was granted permission to arrange for Fontana & Company, selling <br />"garden supplies", to construct a plant approximately 300 feet north of <br />Rogers Street on Bayshore Highway with the understanding that no supplies <br />would be stocked or sold until the fence should be built and painted. <br />J. L. Flynn made complaint about sanitary conditions near Redwood Avenue and <br />Poplar, behind the Taxaco station at Five Points. The matter was referred <br />to the City Manager. <br />The Attorney took up the question of Abatement Proceedings for the building <br />at 228 Samson Street. He proceeded to question the city Building Inspector <br />Duncan, who told the condition of the building. Robert Nweeya, the owner <br />of the property, was present and explained that he was in accord with the <br />desire to raze the building and that he intended to try to build there. <br />161 <br />
