178 <br />The Clerk of the City of Redwood City is hereby ordered and direct- <br />ed to post a notice of said work and improvements,together with plans, <br />profiles, detailed drawings and specifications therefor, conspicuously <br />for five days on or near the Council Chamber door of the Council of said <br />City of Redwood City inviting sealed proposals or bids for doing the <br />work and making the improvements ordered herein. Said City Clerk is <br />i also ordered and directed to publish a notice inviting such sealed pro- <br />posals or bids and referring to the plans, profiles, detailed drawings <br />and specifications posted or on file for the period reo_uired by law in <br />the Redwood City Tribune, a daily (except Sunday) newspaper of general <br />i circulation published, printed and circulated in the City of Redwood <br />City, and hereby designated for that purpose by the Council of said City. <br />IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that said sealed proposals or bids be pub- <br />licly opened, examined and declared by the Council of said City of Red- <br />wood City at the hour of 5:00 o'clock P.M. of Monday, the 17th day of <br />June, 1940, and all bids must be filed with the Clerk of the Council <br />of the City of Redwood City on or before such date and hour." <br />With reference to Resolution of Intention No. 1940-2, Lexington Avenue Street <br />work, affidavits of posting notices of improvement and affidavit of pub- <br />lication of Resolution of Intention No. 1940-2 were on motion of Council- <br />man Christensen, seconded by Councilman Werder, and carried, ordered filed. <br />This being the time filing protests Mr. James A. Miller submitted a written pro- <br />test of certain property owners in the assessment district proposed to be <br />assessed for said work. After considerable discussion between Mr. Miller <br />and the Council and one or two property owners, and in order to give the <br />City Engineer time to compute the area of the property in the assessment <br />district and the area of the property owned by the Protestants the further <br />hearing in said matter was continued to June 17, 1940, at 5:00 o'clock P.M. <br />on motion of Councilman Edmonds, seconded by Councilman Werder, and carried. <br />The City Attorney made a report to the Council on petition of the Pacific Gas <br />and Electric Company and order to show cause issued by the Railroad Com- <br />mission of the State of California in the matter of the evaluation proceed- <br />ings of the Pacific Gas and Electric Company's properties in Redwood City <br />carried on during the years 1935, 1936 and 1937• <br />Considerable discussion was had relative to closing of the agenda for Council <br />meetings so that the Council and the public might know what matters were <br />coming up at the meeting and on motion of Councilman Granger, seconded by <br />Councilman Werder, and carried, the City Manager was directed to see that <br />the agenda for all matters coming up at the regular meetings of the Council <br />should close at 4:00 o'clock P.M. on the Friday preceding each of said <br />meeting days and that the Clerk mail to each member of the Council and to <br />the press a copy of said agenda so that the same would be received Saturday <br />morning. <br />The City Manager submitted to each Councilman a copy of the proposed budget for <br />1940-1941. <br />W <br />I <br />I <br />R, <br />n <br />
