18 <br />RESOLVED, that said Council of the City of Redwood City hereby rejects all <br />of said proposals or bids except that next herein mentioned and hereby awards <br />the contract for doing said work and making said improvements to the lowest, <br />regular, responsible bidder;to-wit': PETER SORENSEN at the'prices named''Ien his bid. r <br />The City Clerk is hereby directed to publish a notice of this awa-rd twice <br />in.the Redwood.City.Tribiine;`a.daily (except Sunday). newspaper published,print- <br />ed and circulated in said City of Redwood City, and hereby designated for that <br />purpose by the Council of said city." <br />Application of Frank M. Garcia for restuarant license at 2231 E1 Camino Real, <br />which had been continued from the previous meeting, was granted on <br />motion of Councilman Christensen, seconded by Councilman Werder. <br />The appointment of a member to the Planning Commission was laid over until <br />the next regular meeting. <br />The City Manager, in connection with the proposed improvement of Lexington <br />Avenue, 1940-2, filed a report indicating that there was an error in <br />the previous proceedings and recommending that those proceedings be re- <br />scinded and new proceedings started. Following this suggestion, Council- <br />man Christensen, seconded by Councilman Edmonds, proposed adoption of <br />the following resolution. Carried. <br />"RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Redwood City that Resolution <br />Ordering Plans, Profiles, Detailed Drawings, Specifications and Map or Plat <br />of Proposed Assessment District No. 1940-2, and Resolution Adopting Plans, <br />Profiles, Specifications and Map or Plat of Proposed Assessment District <br />No. 1940-2, and. Resolution of Intention No. 1940-2 passed and adopted by <br />the Council of the City of Redwood City on the 6th day of May, 1940, be <br />and each of them is hereby rescinded and made of no force and effect.1' <br />Councilman Werder, seconded by Councilman Christensen, proposed adoption of <br />the following resolution. Carried. I <br />"RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Redwood City, County of San <br />Mateo, State of California, that C. L. Dimmitt, City Engineer of said <br />City, be and he is hereby ordered to prepare plans, profiles, detailed <br />drawings, specifications, map or plat of proposed assessment district <br />and estimates for doing the following work and making the following im- <br />provements in said City of Redwood City, to -wit: <br />That Lexington Avenue from the end of the existing macadam pavement <br />near the south termination of Arch Street to the end of the existing <br />macadam pavement near the center line of Clinton Street, including the <br />termination of Arch Street and Birch Street with said Lexington Avenue <br />and also the termination of said Lexington Avenue with Clinton Street <br />be improved as follows, to -wit: <br />That aforesaid Lexington Avenue and intersections and terminations <br />or portions thereof be graded for its full width and for the length <br />mentioned herein and described, and by having constructed on both sides <br />of said Avenue and intersections and terminations or portions thereof, <br />combined cement concrete curbs and gutters, and by constructing between <br />said combined curbs and gutters a four inch (411) stabilized slurry base <br />pavement with an asphaltic armor coat wearing surface; that two (2) <br />hydraulic cement reinforced concrete storm water drop inlet catch basins <br />with cast iron frames and gratings be constructed one on each side of <br />Lexington Avenue near the termination of Arch Street, said two (2) drop <br />inlet catch basins to be connected to a circular twelve inch (1211) cor- <br />rugated iron pipe drain sixty (60) feet in length. <br />There is however, exce ted from the above described area to be im- <br />proved with a four inch (411 stabilized slurry base pavement with an <br />asphaltic armor coat wearing surface, all that portion of said Lexington _ <br />Avenue lying between Arch Street and Birch Street which is now improved <br />with a bituminous macadam pavement, and there is also excepted from grad- <br />ing work hereinbefore described those portions now improved with cement <br />concrete sidewalks.° <br />0 <br />I <br />I � <br />
