The City of Redwood City will contribute from its general fund
<br />the sum of $540.00 towards the costs and expenses of the work and
<br />improvements ordered by this Resolution of Intention.
<br />AND WHEREAS, in and by said Resolution of Intention No. 1940-4
<br />said Council fixed Monday, the 15th day of July, 1940, at the hour
<br />of. 9:00 o'clock P.M. of said day, at the meeting place of said Council
<br />in the City Hall on Middlefield Road in said City of Redwood City,
<br />County of San Mateo, State of California, as the day, hour and place
<br />when and where any and all persons having any objections to the pro-
<br />posed work and improvements described in said Resolution of Inten-
<br />tion No. 1940-4, or to the grades at which said work and improve-
<br />ments are to be done and made, or to the district to be assessed for
<br />said work and improvements, could appear before said Council and short
<br />cause why said work and improvements should not be carried out and
<br />done in accordance with said Resolution of Intention No. 1940-4, or
<br />why said work and improvements should not be carried out and done at
<br />the proposed grades as shown on the plans, profiled and detailed
<br />drawings referred to in said Resolution of Intention No. 1940-4 and
<br />now on file in the office of the Clerk of said city; and
<br />WHEREAS, at the day, hour and place abovementioned, when and
<br />where objections could be made as aforesaid, certain owners of prop-
<br />erty in the district to be assessed for said work and improvements
<br />made written objections to said work and improvements or to the ex-
<br />tent of the district to be assessed therefor; and
<br />WHEREAS, said Council did proceed to hear and consider said pro-
<br />tests and objections, and said Council having fully considered the
<br />same:
<br />THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Redwood
<br />City and said Council does hereby determine and declare that said
<br />protests and objections were not and are not made by the owners of
<br />one-half of the area of the property in the district to be assessed
<br />for said work and improvements.
<br />AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by said Council that said written
<br />protests and objections, and each and all thereof, be and the same
<br />are hereby overruled."
<br />Following this, Councilman Werder, seconded by Councilman Edmonds,
<br />proposed adoption of the following resolution. Carried.
<br />"RESOLUTION ORDERING THE WORK NO. 1940-4"
<br />"RESOLVED, THAT WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Redwood City
<br />did, on the 17th day of June, 1940, pass and adopt Resolution of In-
<br />tention No. 1940-4 to order the hereinafter described work to be
<br />done and improvements to be made in said City of Redwood City; and
<br />Whereas, notices of the passage of said Resolution of Intention
<br />No. 1940-4, headed "NOTICE OF IMPROVEMENT", were duly and regularly
<br />posted along the line of said contemplated work and improvements and
<br />in front of all the property liable to be assessed therefor, and on
<br />all of the streets in the district to be assessed therefor, in time,
<br />form, manner and number as required by law, as appears from the
<br />affidavits of C. L. Dimmitt, Superintendent of Streets of the City
<br />of Redwood City, and H. L. Winter, Charlie White and Tom Stafford,
<br />and now on file in the office of the Clerk of said city; and
<br />Whereas, it appears from the affidavits of'said 0. L. Dimmitt
<br />and H. L. Winter, Charlie White and Tom Stafford, hereinbefore re-
<br />ferred to herein, that the posting of said notices of improvement
<br />as aforesaid was completed on the 27th day of June, 1940; and
<br />Whereas, it appears from the affidavit of Bernice Gardner that
<br />said Resolution of Intention No. 1940-4 was duly and regularly pub-
<br />lished in the Redwood City Tribune, a daily (except Sunday) news-
<br />paper published, printed and circulated in said City of Redwood
<br />City; and
