202 <br />The Clerk of the City of Redwood City is hereby ordered and di- <br />rected to post a notice of said work and improvements, together with <br />plans, profiles, detailed drawings and specifications therefor, con- <br />spicuously for five days on or near the Council Chamber door of the <br />Council of said city of Redwood City inviting sealed proposals or bids <br />i <br />for doing the work and making the improvements ordered herein. Said, <br />City Clerk is also ordered and directed to publish a notice inviting <br />t <br />such sealed proposals or bids and referring to the plans, profiles, <br />j <br />detailed drawings and specifications posted or on file for the period <br />required by law in the Redwood City Tribune, a daily (except Sunday) <br />newspaper of general circulation published, printed and circulated <br />in the City of Redwood City, and hereby designated for that purpose <br />by the Council of said city. <br />It is further ordered that said sealed proposals or bids be pub- <br />' <br />licly opened, examined and declared by the Council of said City of <br />Redwood City at the hour of 9:00 o'clock P.M. of Monday, the 5th day <br />i <br />of August, 1940, and all bids must be filed with the Clerk of the <br />Council of the City of Redwood City on or before such date and hour.11 <br />On motion of Councilman Christensen, seconded by Councilman Werder, there <br />? <br />was adopted the following resolution. <br />"RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Redwood City that in con- <br />formity with Chapter 90 of the Statutes of 1937 of the State of Calif- <br />ornia, with amendments thereto and other laws, that the minimum com- <br />pensation to be paid for any skilled or unskilled labor for work to <br />be performed in the improvements mentioned. and described in Resolution <br />of Intention -No. 1940-3, passed and adopted by the Council of the Cit y <br />of Redwood City on the 17th day of June, 1940, which Resolution of <br />Intention is now on file in the office of the City Clerk of the City <br />of Redwood City and to which reference is hereby made and the same is <br />i <br />made a part hereof, shall be not less than specified as follows: <br />Trade or occupation Per Diem HLgE Hourly Eagf Rate <br />i <br />Bricklayers and Hodcarriers (6 Hour Day) <br />Bricklayers (including manhole and Catch $10.50 $1.75 <br />Basin)1 <br />Hodcarriers (brick) $7.50 1.25 <br />1 <br />Trenching Machine Operator 12.90 1.60 <br />Laying vitrified or concrete sewer pipe 8.80 •1.10 <br />This resolution supplements resolution passed and adopted by the <br />Council of the City of Redwood City on the 17th day of June, 1940, 'fix- <br />ing the minimum compensation for skilled or'unskilled labor for work <br />to be performed in the improvements mentioned and described in Resolu- <br />tions of Intention Nos. 1940-3 and 1940-4 and all other portions of <br />said resolution are hereby re -adopted by reference as a part of this <br />resolution. 11 • <br />The appointment of two members to the Board of Library Trustees came up for <br />consideration again, and on motion of Councilman Christensen, seconded �. <br />b Councilman Granger, 0. K. Whittenbur was reappointed, g g following <br />which, on motion of Councilman Granger, seconded by Councilman Edmonds, <br />t. <br />Mrs. Diary Gregg Thorning was reappointed, both for the ensuing three•. <br />years. <br />The City Manager reported concerning the complaint of Mr. Vanderborden and <br />said that the rooster had been disposed of and that the odor had been <br />eliminated. <br />It was decided to lay over until the next meeting further consideration and <br />report of the business license committee and the committee for civil <br />service. <br />.. w <br />
