mission be granted the owners to subdivide same. Mr. John Nordstrand <br />of the Redwood City Commuters Club and lir. Paul McCarthy spoke oppos- <br />ing the cutting up of these two lots as approved by the Planning Com- <br />mission and after considerable discussion, on motion of Councilman <br />Edmonds, seconded by Councilman Christensen, and carried, the matter <br />was referred back to the Planning Commission with the request that <br />they reconsider the matter and hear from the protestants who appeared <br />before the Council. <br />A petition was presented signed by approximately 104 people requesting; the <br />City Council to establish a municipal park with lawns and tennis courts <br />situated on the west side of the Highway on Brewster or Hopkins Avenue. <br />Dr. Norman MacKenzie spoke at length on the petition and on motion of <br />Councilman Granger, seconded by Councilman Werder, and carried, the <br />petition was referred to the Recreation Commission. <br />Petition received signed by 27 persons requesting the Council to establish <br />two hour parking instead, of one hour parking on Broadway between Jefferson <br />Avenue and Main Street. It was determined to take this matter up in <br />conjunction with the new parking ordinance now under consideration. <br />Communication received from the Community Chest of Redwood City requesting <br />a contribution from the city. On motion of Councilman Pletcher, seconded <br />by Councilman Werder, and carried, it was decided to give the same amount <br />as last year, ;250. <br />Letter received from the Highlands District Improvement Club relative to the <br />installation of the Emerald Lake sign across Jefferson Avenue at E1 <br />Camino Real, and on motion of Councilman Edmonds, seconded by Council- <br />man Werder, and carried, authorization was given to the club to erect <br />this sign across Jefferson Avenue at a place to be determined by the <br />City Manager, the club to pay all the expenses of erection, current, <br />and maintenance of the sign. <br />Communication received from Clelia Butini and Peter Tormentini relative to <br />certain pipes under the bridge on Oak Avenue. Mr. Dimmitt reported <br />that this matter was being attended to, two of the pipes having already <br />been removed and that he plans to remove the grater pipe, which would <br />only leave the sewer in place. <br />Bill from Pacific Gas & Electric Company was received covering expenditures <br />of valuation proceedings in the sum of $"19,270.37. Upon motion of <br />Councilman Werder, seconded by Councilman Edmonds, same was ordered <br />filed. <br />V <br />1 <br />I� <br />
