1 <br />Report received from the Department of Public Health and Welfare in relation <br />to Sam Yee Restaurant application, 813 I -Iain Street, stating that the <br />premises were in proper shape and recommending applicant be granted a <br />permit. Upon motion of Councilman Edmonds, seconded by Councilman <br />Fletcher, and carried, same was granted. <br />Application received from First Church of Christ, Scientist, to place a sign <br />2 feet by 2- feet reading Christian Science Church and Reading Room. <br />On motion of Councilman Edmonds, seconded by Councilman Fletcher, said <br />permission was granted. <br />A letter received from Sanford T. Ratliff relative to the purchase of a lot <br />from the city upon which he had made a deposit of 075. Mr. Ratliff <br />stated that he purchased this lot with the written understanding that <br />if the F_HA and American Trust Company did not approve the loan he re- <br />quested, that his deposit would be returned, and stated that said loan <br />was not approved. On motion of Councilman Werder, seconded by Council- <br />man Edmonds, and carried, the deposit was ordered returned if Mr. Ratliff <br />presented to the City Manager the, written understanding mentioned in his <br />letter, and it was further ordered that the $37.50 having been paid to <br />Mr. Holt as part of his commission on the sale of said lot be withheld <br />from any further money owing him. <br />Appointment of C. L. Dimmitt as deputy City Clerk and deputy City Treasurer <br />by B. E. Myers, with his oath of office as such deputy, was received <br />and on motion of Councilman Edmonds, seconded by Councilman McNulty, <br />and carried, such appointment was approved, and the same was ordered <br />filed. <br />Upon motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman Edmonds, and <br />carried, Mr. Dimmitt was ordered to secure a 075,000 bond covering such <br />deputyships. <br />Mr. Harry Friend and Gussie Friend, his wife, presented a petition requesting <br />the annexation to the City of Redwood City of certain uninhabited territory <br />lying immediately adjacent and contiguous to the easterly limits of the <br />city. Councilman Edmonds, seconded by Councilman McNulty, moved that <br />said matter be continued until the next regular meeting of the Council. <br />Upon roll call, motion was lost. Councilman Werder, seconded by Council- <br />man Fletcher, moved the adoption of the following resolution, which tras <br />unanimously adopted. <br />
