228 <br />f <br />t <br />j <br />t <br />"RESOLUTION GIVING NOTICE OF PROPOSED ANNEXATION OF THE HEREINAFTER <br />DESCRIBED TERRITORY TO THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY. <br />WHEREAS, under the provisions of that certain Act of the Legislature 1 <br />of the State of California entitled "An Act to Provide for the Alteration <br />of the Boundaries of Incorporated Towns and Cities by the Annexation of <br />uninhabited Territory Thereto and for the Incorporation of such Annexed <br />Territory in and as a Part of such Municipality, and for the Districting, <br />Government and Municipal Control of such Annexed Territory" approved <br />May 29, 1939, and found in the Statutes of 1939 at page 1567, there was <br />on the 7th day of October, 1940, filed with the Council of the City of <br />Redwood City, a petition in writing requesting that the hereinafter <br />described territory be annexed to, incorporated in and made a part of <br />the City of Redwood City. <br />The exterior boundaries of said territory described in said petition <br />and which territory is contiguous to the limits of the City of Redwood <br />City is described as follows, to -wit: <br />BEGINNING at the point of intersection of the easterly boundary line <br />of the incorporated City of Redwood City with the northerly line of that <br />certain 60 foot private road (now commonly known as Bay Road) shown on <br />"Man of Subdivisions of Sweeney Ranch", filed in the Recorder's office, <br />San Mateo County, State of California, June 24, 1898, in Boob "C" of <br />Original Maps at page 36; thence running in a northerly direction at <br />right angles to the southerly line of the Bayshore Highway (California <br />State Highway, Route 68) to a point in the southerly line thereof; thence <br />southeasterly along the southerly line of said Bayshore Highway to the <br />easterly boundary line of Lot 2 as same is shown on above described "Tian <br />of Subdivisions of Sweeney Ranch"; thence in a general northerly direc- <br />tion along said easterly boundary lines of said Lot 2 to the northeast- <br />erly corner thereof; thence in a general westerly direction along the <br />northerly boundary lines of Lots 2 and 1 above described "Man of Sub- <br />divisions of Sweeney Ranch" to the southeasterly corner of that certain <br />parcel of land named as "First" and conveyed by deed filed March 29, <br />1913 in Volume 222 of Deeds at page 265, San Mateo County Records; <br />thence along the easterly and northerly boundaries of said parcel of land <br />above described to a point in the southeast line of Harbor Boulevard and ' <br />the southeast corporate limits of the City of Redwood City; thence south- <br />westerly and southerly along said corporate limits of the City of Red- <br />wood City to the point of beginning. <br />AND, WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Redwood City does hereby <br />determine and declare that said petition is signed by the owners of not <br />less than one-fourth of the area of the land described in such petition, <br />and the owners of said land represent not less than one-fourth of the <br />assessed value of such territory described in said petition according <br />to the last preceding equalized assessment roll of the County of San <br />Mateo, said County being the County in which said territory hereinbefore <br />described is situated. <br />The Council of the City of Redwood City does by this resolution <br />give notice of such proposed annexation and does further fix Monday, <br />the 4th day of November 1940, at the hour of 8:00 o'clock P.M. at the <br />Council Chamber in the City Hall on Middlefield Road in said City of <br />Redwood City as the day, hour and place when and where any person <br />owning real property within such territory so proposed to be annexed <br />and having any objection to the proposed annexation may appear before <br />the City Council and show cause why such territory should not be so <br />annexed. <br />IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that the City Clerk of the City of Redwood <br />City shall cause a copy of this resolution to be published at least <br />once a week for two successive weeks prior to the day fixed for hearing, <br />In the Redwood City Tribune, a newspaper of general circulation published <br />in the City of Redwood City, the municipal corporation to which it is <br />proposed to annex the hereinbefore described territory. <br />AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that at any time not later than the hour <br />set for hearing objections to the proposed annexation any owner of prop- <br />erty within the territory proposed to be annexed may file written protest � <br />against the proposed annexation. Such protests shall state the name or <br />names of the owner or owners of the property affected thereby, and the <br />description and area of such property in general terms. <br />r <br />c <br />J <br />
