252
reports from the Health Department were read. It was decided on motion
of Councilman Granger, seconded by Councilman Fletcher, and carried,
that the Health Department be notified that its reports relating to this
property are at variance with observation of members of the City Council
who inspected the premises; that the premises be reinspected by Dr. Gans
personally, if possible, before the next meeting of the Council on
January 6, 1941, and that the Health Department arrange to have a represen-
tative present at'the January 6, 1941, and subsequent meetings,of the
Council.
In connection with condemnatl6n proceedings on old buildings, the City Manager
reported, in a letter addressed to the Council, that.the Health Department
advised the buildings in question would be satisfactorily cared for and,
therefore, it appeared unnecessary and inadvisable to institute proceed-
ings at this time.
The proposed ordinance regulating the keeping of goats, chickens, etc., was
discussed: A. E. Lukens, 1536 Oxford Avenue, President of the Northern
California Branch of the Rhode Island Red Club, addressed the Council and
expressed the opinion that the proposed ordinance may eliminate poultry
breeding. On motion -of Councilman Christensen, seconded by Councilman
Werder, the City Manager and City Attorney were instructed to submit at
the next meeting a revised ordinance and a map showing the districts
covered by the revised ordinance.
Councilman Christensen, seconded by Councilman Fletcher, proposed the adoption
of the following resolution. Carried by unanimous vote of the Council.
"RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY ADOPTING
BUDGET AND APPROVING FIRST SUPPLEMENTAL MEMORANDUM OF .AGREEMENT FOR
EXPENDITURE OF 1/4 CENT GAS TAX ALLOCATED FOR STREETS OF MAJOR
IMPORTANCE.
"WHEREAS, a first supplemental memorandum of agreement has been pre-
sented to be'entered into with the State of California in accordance with
a project statement for expenditure of the 1/4 cent gas tax for the fiscal
year 1941 allocated for streets of major importance other than State high-
ways in the City,of Redwood City; and
WHEREAS, the city council has heard read said agreement in full and
is familiar with the contents thereof;
THEREFORE, be it resolved by the city -council of the City of Redwood
City that said project statement be and it is hereby adopted as the budget
of proposed expenditures of the 1/4 cent gas tax allocated for streets
of major importance other than State highways, and said agreement be and
the same is hereby approved and the City Manager is directed to sign the
same on behalf of said City, said agreement to be binding upon the City
upon its execution by the authorized officials of the State."
A letter from Edmund Scott reminding the Council of its intention to repeal the
section of the Business License Tax'Ordinance (Subdivision g0, Section 9)
0
fl
A
