,302 <br />.l <br />There was read a letter from the Redwood City Chamber of Commerce pointing <br />out that the appraisal of property by the Federal Housing Administra- <br />tion in Redwood City is inequitable when compared with appraisals and <br />commitments on•San Carlos property. This letter was referred to the <br />real.estate committee and ordered placed on the agenda for the next <br />meeting. <br />The Union Oil Company of California was, on motion of Councilman Fletcher, <br />seconded by Councilman McNulty, granted permission, subject to compli- <br />ance with city ordinances, to erect a service station at the northwest <br />corner of E1 Camino Real and Redwood Avenue as recommended by the City <br />Planning Commission. <br />Request by Cal Bunyard for renewal of a dancing permit was, on motion of <br />Councilman Werder, seconded by Councilman Fletcher, held over until <br />the next meeting, and Mr. Bunyard was directed to submit a letter from <br />the State Board of Equalization confirming his verbal statement that he <br />the <br />had been given a "clean bill" by the Board. The Chief of/Police Depart- <br />ment was also directed to submit a report relative to this matter. <br />The City Manager, in a letter addressed to the Council, stated Floyd L. <br />Baird had again demanded a refund of money deposited for purchase <br />of Lot 12, Block 19 of Central Park. After discussion, this matter <br />was referred to the real estate committee. <br />The City Manager explained in connection with recommendations of the Board <br />of Trustees of the Redwood City Public Library that provision was being <br />made along Jefferson Avenue in front of the City Library and City Hall <br />for the installation of additional light fixtures at such time when <br />funds were available, and that provision would be made for surfacing the <br />driveway between the Library building and the Post Office in the next <br />budget. <br />In connection with the request of the Board of Trustees of the Library for <br />additional funds, the Council, at. the request of the City Manager, agreed <br />to meet with the members of the Library Board on Monday evening, April 29, <br />1941, to discuss the subject and also to discuss the matter of taxes paid <br />by Redwood City taxpayers for the support of the County Free Library. <br />The report of the City Manager on Oxford Street flood conditions was ordered <br />placed on the agenda for the next meeting. <br />The matter of sanitary inspections on undesirable vacant buildings was dis- <br />cussed, but no action taken at this time as it appeared this matter <br />R <br />
