340 <br />0 <br />MINUTES'OF REGULAR MEETING <br />REDWOOD CITY COUNCIL <br />AUGUST 4. 1941 <br />8:00 P. M. <br />Upon roll call the'foilowing were present: Councilmen L.' C. Christensen, <br />E. A. -Fletcher,. F. D. Granger, G. W. McNulty, W. M: Werder, Mayor <br />H. F. Anderson, and City Clerk C. W. Eltringham; absent, Councilman <br />H. W..Edmonds. Also present were City Manager C. L. Dimmitt, City <br />Attorney Albert Mansfield, City Collector, Nelle L. Miramontes, Chief <br />of Police C. L. Collins, Chief of Fire Department M. E-.- Ryan, Super- <br />intendent of. Paras Roger Walsh, and Health Department representative <br />W. E. Smith. <br />The minutes. of the regular meeting of .July 21, 1941, were approved on <br />motion of Councilman Werder, seconded by Councilman Fletcher. <br />A letter from the Fourth of July Celebration Committee thanking the City <br />for its cooperation in the third annual Fourth of July celebration <br />was read and ordered filed. <br />There was read a letter from the Board of Fire Underwriters of the Pacific <br />Coast calling attention to the annual conference of the Pacific Coast <br />Association of Fire Chiefs to be held in Reno, Nevada, September 8, <br />9, and 10. Fire Chief M. E. Ryan stated that he would attend this <br />conference and the communication was ordered filed. <br />Application of Maury Schwarz, 34• Golden Gate Avenue, San Francisco, for <br />permission to promote semi-monthly amateur boxing matches in Redwood <br />City was referred to the Recreation Committee for investigation and <br />report. <br />The City Collector was, on motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by <br />Councilman Werder, authorized to execute a contract with Emily D. Mor- <br />rison, 40 Fairfield Way, San Francisco, for sale of Lots 27 and 28, <br />Block 6, West Redwood, for the sum of $325.00, payable $32.50 down, <br />the balance to be paid in monthly installments of $12.25 each with <br />interest at the rate of 6% per annum. <br />On motion, of Councilman Werder, seconded by Councilman Fletcher, there was <br />agreed to allow A. W. Palm a 2% commission on all sales of advertised <br />lots made by brokers, beginning June 25, 1941 - <br />There was read a letter from Lee T. Ross, Executor of the estate of Hannah <br />Schaberg, advising that by the terms of Mrs. Schaberg's will she pro- <br />vided a legacy to the City in the amount of $20•,000 to be used by it <br />9 <br />0 <br />0 <br />
