Y <br />17 <br />r� <br />I <br />0 <br />MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING <br />REDTOOD CITY COUNCIL <br />MAY 1, 1939 <br />8:00 P.M. <br />Upon roll call the following were present: Councilmen H. F. Anderson, E. A. Fletcher, <br />Wm. Hohn, R. N. Jones, P. A. McCarthy, G. W. McNulty, Mayor L. C. Christensen, and <br />City Clerk B. E. Myers. <br />The minutes of the meeting of April 17 were approved on motion of Councilman McNulty, <br />seconded by Councilman Anderson. <br />On motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman McNulty, resolutions were <br />adopted accepting leases in favor of the City of Redwood City by Beeger Tanning <br />Company, Redwood City Realty Company, and James M. Eva. <br />On motion of Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman Anderson, the City Treasurer was <br />authorized to transfer $2,500 from the Investment Fund to the Real Estate Fund. <br />On motion of Councilman Anderson, seconded by Councilman Fletcher, there was adopted a <br />resolution requesting authorization from the P. W. A., in connection with the new <br />City Hall, to deduct $1,000 from the construction item for the purpose of setting <br />up a Force Account. <br />On motion of Councilman Anderson, seconded by Councilman McNulty, there was adopted <br />resolution requesting P. W. A., in connection with the new library construction, to <br />permit the addition of $100 to the construction item, $208.87 to the preliminary <br />expenses item, and $341.13 to the item, engineers -architects. <br />The Clerk read copy of a notice concerning personal injuries sustained by Chetwynd <br />Pigott and a demand on the City for damages in the own of $10,000. On motion of <br />Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman Anderson, the claim was formally re - <br />jetted. <br />Uke Popik, on motion of Councilman Fl6tcher, seconded by Councilman McCarthy, was granted <br />permit to receive a junk dealer's license with business at 715 Main Street provided <br />that permit be revocable at the pleasure of the Council and that investigation war- <br />ranted granting the permit. <br />The City Manager submitted the following letter: <br />"The following bids were received for grading and paving of Rogers <br />Street between Bayshore Highway and Arguello Street: <br />Harvey E. Conner $5,798.60 <br />Lee J. Immel 4,569 .00 <br />W. C. Railing 4,99'+•30 <br />Piazza and Huntley 5,339.15 <br />Earl W. Heple,723.40 <br />L. C. Smith ,497.45 <br />Chas. L. Harney 5,691.93 <br />W. 0. Tyson 1},727.80 <br />A. J. Raisch 6,304.00 <br />The low bidder is L. C. Smith in the amount of $4,497.45, and I <br />recommend that he be awarded the contract. The Engineer's Estimate <br />was in the amount of $5,623.0011 <br />tXV <br />
