I <br />go to the expense of publication if there was any likelihood of finally deter- <br />mining not to call an election, but Attorney W. H. Morrissey called attention <br />to the fact that the law made it mandatory on the Council to call such an <br />election provided at'least 1/4 of the qualified electors in the district peti- <br />tioned it. So it was finally decided, on motion of Councilman McCarthy, seconded <br />by Councilman Hohn, to adopt Resolution of Intention No. 1939-3 as below. <br />"WHEREAS, under the provisions of that certain act of the <br />Legislature of the State of California, entitled "An Act to Provide <br />for the Alteration of the Boundaries of and for the Annexation of <br />Territory to Municipal Corporations, for the Incorporation of such <br />Annexed Territory in and as a part thereof, and for the Districting, <br />Government and Municipal Control of such Annexed Territory", ap- <br />proved June 11, 1913, together with acts amendatory thereof, there <br />was on the 17th day of April, 1939, filed with the Council of the <br />City of Redwood City a petition in writing requesting that the <br />hereinafter described territory be annexed to, incorporated in, <br />and made a part of the City of Redwood City. <br />The 'exterior boundaries -of said territory described in <br />said petition and which territory is contiguous to the limits bf <br />the City of Redwood City is described as follows, to -wit: <br />BE3IATNING at the point where the southerly line of the <br />Bayshore Highway intersects the easterly line of the corporate <br />limits of the City of Redwood City, thence easterly along said <br />southerly line of the Bayshore Highway to the easterly line of <br />"Tract,No. 509 Friendly Acres Subdi'vison No. 2 in the County of <br />San Mateo, California," filed for record January 18, 19379 in <br />Book 21 of Maps, pages 32, 33 and 34 in the office of the Recorder, <br />San Mateo County, State of Calif., same being also the westerly <br />line of Sweeney Lane (now commonly known as Marsh Road), as said <br />Sweeney Lane is shown on "Map of Subdivisions of Sweeney Ranch <br />near Redwood City, San Mateo Co.", filed for record June 24, 1898, <br />in Book C of Maps, page 36, in the office of the Recorder, San <br />Mateo County, State of Calif. Thence southerly along the west- <br />erly line of Sweeney Lane (now commonly known as Marsh Road) to <br />northerly right of way line of the Southern Pacific Railroad <br />Company's "Dumbarton Cut -Off"; thence westerly along said North- <br />erly line of Southern Pacific Railroad Company to its inter- <br />section with the southerly line of "Tract No. 509 Friendly Acres <br />Subdivision No. 2" herein previously described; thence westerly <br />along the southerly line of "Tract No. 509 Friendly Acres Sub- <br />division No. 2" and continuing westerly along the southerly <br />line of "Tract No. 505 Friendly Acres Subdivision No. 10, as <br />said line is shown on map filed for record February 10, 19361 in <br />Book 20 of Maps at pages 69 and 70 in the office of the Recorder, <br />San Mateo County, California, and continuing westerly along the <br />southerly line of "Belle Haven Sub. No. 2" as shown on the map <br />filed for record Nov. 5, 1929, in Book 17 of Maps at pages 75 <br />and 76, in the Recorder's office, San Mateo County, State of <br />California, to the southeasterly corner of Lot 2 of "Map of Sub- <br />divisions of Sweeney Ranch near Redwood City" hereinbefore <br />mentioned; thence along the southerly line of said Lot 2, the same <br />being the northerly line of that certain 60 foot road (now commonly <br />known as Bay Road) shown on aforesaid "Map of Subdivisons of Sweeney <br />Ranch near Redwood City," and continuing along said northerly line <br />of said 60 foot road (now commonly known as Bay Road) to the easterly <br />line of the corporate limits of the City of Redwood City; and th6nce <br />along said easterly line of corporate limits to the southerly line <br />of Bayshore Highway and the point of beginning. <br />AND, WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Redwood City.does <br />hereby determine and declare that said petition is signed by not less <br />than one-fourth in number of the qualified electors residing in the <br />territory described therin as shown by the r egistration of voters of <br />the County of San Mateo, said County of San Mateo being the County in <br />which such terkitory is situated. <br />
