was unanimously adopted on motion of Councilman herder, Seconded <br />by Councilman Anderson. <br />Permission was granted Court Madrone No. 158, Foresters of America, to <br />hold public dances on June 6 and June 13, 19/2, on motion of Council- <br />man Fletcher seconded by Councilman McNulty. <br />Mayor Granger announced the appointment of Frank De Patta as Chairman of <br />the Committee for collection of salvage materials and the appoint- <br />ment of C. L. Dimmitt as representative of the City of Redwood City <br />to the San Mateo County Civilian Defense Council. <br />Referred to the City Attorney for report at the next meeting was the un- <br />sightly condition of the house owned by Mr. H. H. Filers located <br />on Jefferson Avenue between Iris and King Streets. <br />Also referred to the City Attorney for consideration and report at the <br />next meeting was the matter of adopting a new ordinance regulating <br />carnivals, similar to the ordinance now in effect in unincorporated <br />areas of the County of San Mateo. <br />At the suggestion of Councilman Britschgi the Mayor appointed a committee <br />composed of Councilmen Britschgi and Fletcher and City Manager Dimmitt <br />to investigate tPe possibility of reducing water rates. <br />The City Manager was authorized, on motion of Councilman Anderson seconded <br />by Councilman Fletcher, to advertise for bids for improvements to <br />Broadway and Chestnut Streets; said bids to be opened on the fourth <br />Monday in June, 1942. <br />Departmental reports were ordered filed. <br />Approved claims Nos. 1458 to 1505 were ordered paid on motion of Cooncil- <br />man McNulty seconded by Councilman Fletcher. <br />Adjournment to 7:30 P.M.�June 9, 1942 on motion of Councilman Fletcher <br />seconded by Councilman Anderson. <br />CWE:ES co.I <br />C.
