of, <br />91 <br />MINUTES OF ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING <br />REDWOOD CITY COUNCIL <br />JUNE 9, 1942 <br />7:30 P.M. <br />Upon roll call the following were present: Councilmen H. F. Anderson <br />C. A. Britschgi, E. A. Fletcher, G. W. McNulty, W. M. Werder, <br />Mayor F. D. Granger and City Clerk C. W. Eltringham. City <br />Manager C. L. Dimmitt was also present. <br />Ole Oleson addressed the Council requesting permission for the Redwood <br />City Lions Club to hold a "Duck Derby" and bazaar on June 19 and <br />20th. Following discussion, City Attorney McCarthy expressed the <br />opinion that this type of amusement fell iri the class of 'a car- <br />nival and permission was denied on motion of Councilman Werder <br />seconded by Councilman McNulty. <br />The City Manager was authorized to furnish water for irrigation pur- <br />poses to Lee 0. Cox from City wells located in the southeast cor- <br />ner of the tract under lease by Mr. Cox for an Airport at a rate <br />of 5 cents per 100 cubic feet; it being understood that the City <br />would not be held liable for failure to furnish water and would <br />not furnish water from sources other than the wells and further, <br />in event of emergency that the water supply from the wells could <br />be diverted for domestic purposes, all on motion of Councilman <br />Anderson, seconded by Councilman Werder. <br />Claim No. 1509 in the amount of $25:4.3.19 was approved on motion of <br />Councilman Anderson seconded by Councilman Werder. <br />City Attorney McCarthy presented in tentative form an ordinance es- <br />tablishing a Civilian Defense -Council and outlining its powers <br />and duties. Following'a lengthy discussion, it was decided <br />that this matter be held over until the next meeting. <br />Councilman Fletcher proposed that action be taken at this time to <br />appoint a member to the Co}lncil for the unexpired term of <br />H. W. Edmonds, and nominated Walter Hilton. Councilman Werder <br />nominated Louis Jenkins, Jr., Councilman Anderson seconded by <br />Councilman Werder moved the nominations be closed and the time <br />of election be set for the next regular meeting. This motion <br />failed to carry on a roll call vote. Councilman Anderson sec- <br />onded by Councilman Werder then moved the nominations be closed <br />and on a roll call vote Walter Hilton was unanimously appointed <br />Councilman for the unexpired term of H. W. Edmmxiis. <br />Adjournment on motion of Councilman Werder seconded by Councilman McNulty. <br />E <br />
