478 <br />MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING <br />REDWOOD CITY COUNCIL <br />AUGUST 17, 1942 <br />8:00 P.M. <br />Upon roll call the following were present: Councilmen H. F. Anderson, <br />C. A. Britschgi, E. A. Fletcher, W. W. Hilton, G. W. McNulty, <br />W. M. Werder, Mayor Granger and City Clerk C. W. Eltringham. <br />Also present were City Attorney Paul A. McCarthy, City Collector <br />N. L. Miramontes, Chief of Police C. L. Collins, Building <br />Inspector L. M. Duncan, Fire Chief M. E. Ryan, Assistant Engineers <br />R. J. Clarke and H. L. Winter. <br />The minutes of the regular meeting of August 3rd, 1942 were approved on <br />motion of Councilman Werder seconded by Councilman Anderson. <br />The minutes of annual meeting of The Board of Equalization held at <br />10 A.M., August 10, 1942 were approved on motion of Councilman <br />Werder seconded by Councilman Fletcher. <br />Request of R. F. Martin, operator of the Redwood City Bus Line, for <br />permission to extend bus service to the plant of the Pacific <br />Portland. Cement Company was approved on a temporary basis; <br />Mr. Martin to submit a schedule of service to this area for <br />approval at the September 8th meeting; on motion of Councilman <br />Anderson seconded by Councilman Fletcher. <br />R. I. Shields, Assistant Superintendent of the Pacific Portland Cement <br />Company requested permission to connect a 4 -inch standby service <br />to the City�s water mains at the Port, the entire cost to be paid <br />by the Company. Permission was granted, subject to the signing of <br />an agreement embodying the rules for service required of other <br />industrial consumers on motion of Councilman Anderson seconded by <br />Councilman Werder. <br />Sanford B. Dole, member of the Board of Library Trustees, Redwood city <br />Public Library, advised the Council that dim-out regulation's <br />necessitated the installation of venitian blinds on certain <br />windows in the Library Building and requested that the expenditure <br />be borne by the City. It was decided,.on motion of Councilman <br />Werder seconded by Councilman Britschgi that this expenditure be <br />charged against the Civilian Defense appropriation. <br />Complaint by Michael Dalton about chickens and rabbits being kept <br />at 438 Jackson Street was, on motion of Councilman Anderson sec- <br />onded by Councilman Werder, referred to the City Attorney, Police <br />4 <br />lot <br />S <br />
