Id. Blomquist who submitted the lowest bid. Motion carried <br />on roll call. <br />Affidavit of legal publication on paving of Brewster Avenue was ordered filed on <br />motion of Councilman McNulty, seconded by Councilman Anderson. <br />Affidavit of legal publication for drainage improvement of Redwood Creed was ordered <br />filed on motion of Councilman Anderson., "seconded by Councilman McNulty. <br />City Manager Mead reported he had received the following bids on drainage improvement <br />job: <br />L. C. Smith 4 <br />1st & Railroad Aves., ,San Mateo $7,945.20 <br />Peter Sorensen <br />927 Arguello St.,, Redwood City 9,749.00 <br />Mr. Mead stated these bids were approximately 50% higher than engineers <br />estimates and he recommended that bids be rejected. On motion of Councilman <br />McNulty, seconded by Councilman Fletcher, City Manager's recommendation was <br />approved. <br />Mayor Granger suggested that City Manager Mead investigate posssibility of installing <br />an additional light in the vicinity of Birch and Lexington Streets to eliminate <br />possibility of prowlers in this area. City Manager Mead explained that permits <br />to extend lighting facilities were difficult to obtain, however he would attempt <br />to remedy this situation. <br />Mayor Granger recommended appointment of one additional member to the War Council,. <br />naming Councilman Armstrong for that position. On motion of Councilman McNulty, <br />seconded by Councilman Fletcher, Mayor Grangerls recommendation was adopted. <br />! k <br />i' <br />E� <br />Mayor Granger discussed the garbage situation, stating that in his opinion citizens <br />fa <br />• <br />were entitled to examine Health Department reports on investigations. City <br />• 4 i <br />Manager Mead stated that in his opinion the ordinance was proper and should be. <br />enforced to improve health conditions in the city. <br />iy <br />Mr. George Paul also addressed the Council regarding the "increase in monthly rates <br />{` <br />" covering large garbage containers. <br />Councilman McNulty reported that the City Garden Products Co. in the manufacture of <br />some product was creating a dust condition in"the neighborhood. City Manager <br />Mead was directed to investigate and report 'pack at the next meeting. <br />a <br />Councilman Fletcher stated that he had received complaints of barking dogs specificall;I <br />from residents in the 500 Iris Street block, where several dogs were•housed. City <br />Manager Mead will have this matter checked into-. <br />Councilman Fletcher also reported that a family living in the vicinity of Hopkins and <br />I' <br />{ <br />Jeter were complaining about pigeons flying about the neighborhood. <br />
