91 <br />expressing appreciation of the City's advertisement in the September 30th <br />special issue of the Redwood City Tribune was ordered filed. <br />Communication from Hal Honore, Manager, Fox Sequoia. Theatre, relative to a program <br />to be presented at the theatre on October 30th was ordered filed. <br />Recommendation of the Parks and Recreation Commission that the roof of the Yacht <br />Harbor clubhouse be repaired and the windows weather-stripped was approved on <br />motion of. Councilman Anderson, seconded by Councilman Jenkins. <br />On motion of Councilman Anderson, seconded by Councilman Britschgi, it was decided <br />that the gates at the Yacht Harbor be opened and boat owners granted admission <br />one hour before sunrise. <br />Permission was granted Sequoia Yacht Club to use the Yacht Harbor clubhouse for the <br />purpose of entertaining visitors from San Francisco on October 17, 1942, on mo- <br />tion of Councilman Anderson, seconded by Councilman Fletcher. <br />Motion by Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman Britschgi, indicating the <br />opinion of the Council that a boat owner sleeping, on his boat while in its <br />berth at the Yacht Harbor constituted a houseboat and was therefore prohibited <br />by Ordinance No. 1,66, carried unanimously. <br />J. E. Jordan was granted special permission to conduct a commercial Poultry business <br />at 1520 Gordon Street on motion of Councilman McNulty, seconded by Councilman <br />Fletcher. <br />Communication from Charles R. Schwanenberg advising that he would be unable to accept <br />the appointment of City Manager was ordered filed. <br />City Attorney McCarthy read a lengthy opinion relative to the City's right to re- <br />move delapidated metal copings around cemetery plots at Union Cemetery and, on <br />motion of Councilman Anderson, seconded by Councilman Britschgi, the City Man- <br />ager was authorized to proceed to clean up the cemetery taking the necessary <br />precaution as stated „in the Attorney's opinion. <br />r <br />Affidavit of publication of notice of public hearing on ordinance relative to air <br />raid precautions was ordered filed on motion of Councilman Anderson, seconded <br />by Councilman McNulty. Following this, on motion of Councilman McNulty, sec- <br />onded by Councilman Anderson, Ordinance No. 427.,vaas unanimously adopted. <br />Councilman Jenkins nominated Chester Armstrong as member of the Board of review to <br />i <br />IN <br />fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Earle F. Clegg. Nominations <br />{ <br />y were closed.on motion of Councilman Anderson, seconded by Councilman Fletcher, <br />and Mr. Armstrong was unanimously chosen to fill this position. <br />1 <br />Lawrence Brian was nominated by Councilman Britschgi as a member of the planning Com- <br />f` <br />mission for the unexpired term of Mark Larwood.
