On December 6, 1943, Mr. Hodge visited' <br />plant. All fish meal and fertilizer removed. Only processed organic fertilizer <br />1 <br />manufactured on premises. He could detect no odor at 70 feet. Noted some dust <br />T <br />on roof about 5 feet away from dehydrator. After conferring with Chief Inspector <br />,.� <br />Fickheisen, it was decided no health menace existed on premises and it was not <br />considered detrimental to public health. Mr. Hodge stated that no fly larva <br />3# <br />"I+ ' <br />�l <br />can breed in this t ype .of 'fertilizer. <br />Councilman Armstrong moved, seconded by Councilman Britschgi, that permit <br />' <br />'i <br />granted Mr. Fontana at previous meeting stand and Council withdraw request to <br />_ <br />show cause why permit should be revoked. Motion carried unanimously. <br />..I <br />Councilman Armstrong moved, seconded. by Councilman Britschgi, that protesting <br />parties be advised that no evidence was presented to show nuisanceon property. <br />Under the o_uestion, Councilman Britschgi suggested the health officer visit <br />plant twice a month. Councilman Armstrong amended motion, seconded by Council- <br />Fti <br />man Britschgi, to advise protesting parties that Health Department has been re- <br />I, <br />II <br />",. <br />quested to make irregular perio.dic visits to the plant. Motion carried unanimously. <br />Request to operate used car lot by Weltner Motor Company oncorner of James Avenue <br />�I <br />and El Canino Real was next discussed. City Clerk R. S. -Dodge advised Council <br />that he had sent out notices to 42 property owners advising of hearing and in- <br />r <br />I al <br />viting them to appear if any protests were to be made. <br />City Attorney McCarthy read used car lot ordinance. „Ordinance provides that <br />dealers may be authorized to operate a used car lot adjacent to place of <br />business, one such,lot for each dealer. <br />Councilman Fletcher was of the opinion that there were enough used car lots in <br />i <br />Redwood City and moved that request be denied, seconded by Councilman Hilton. <br />Under the,question, lvir. Andrews spoke from the floor and advised the Council <br />� k <br />that Weltner Motor Company had three agencies - Buick, Pontiac and Packard. He <br />stated that as a war measure the three agencies were under one roof. They had. <br />13 <br />a small used car lot and intended to improve proposed location. .Councilman <br />ff <br />Fletcher questioned whether Weltner Motor Company had three agencies and, after <br />r <br />some discussion, Mr. Andrews stated they did only servicing of Buicks. Motion <br />to deny permit carried unanimously. <br />City Manager Mead reported on possiffiity of woman welfare worker. He stated that he <br />I' O <br />had written the personnel system at Sacrmaneto for a job classification to cover!, <br />such a position and would like to wait until receiving classification before <br />i <br />reporting further. He stated that Chief Collins had conferred with Chief Zink <br />of Palo Alto, where they have a woman welfare officer, and that Chief Zink had <br />i <br />7 <br />commented favorably upon such an officer.' The .matter. was carried over to be <br />f <br />%1 <br />placed on the agenda of the next meeting. ' <br />Councilman Anderson reported on communication received from the Travelers Insurance <br />I <br />Company whereby cities may now contribute up to one-half of premium on employeesil <br />group insurance. It was the recommendation of the insurance committee'that the <br />City pay one-half of the premium on employees group insurance in line with the <br />spirit of the %ate Legislature.
