He stated that except for Plinklebleck Street intersecting theapro <br />1� <br />1 <br />n <br />1 <br />erty it is. one continuous piece of property along El Camino Real and that in <br />asking for a ,permit to use the second part of the -property they,a're- .not - <br />'asking for a,permit -on separate praperty. kttorney Millington. presented piehv s <br />of present 'lot �and sketches of proposed improvements to the 'Council. ,He stated <br />that the present lot is too small for the business and that there would`be no <br />violation of the Council's established policy of not allowing two 'used car lots <br />to a dealer. <br />Councilman Britschgi aiked if the Weltner'Motor Company owned the property <br />to which Mr. Andrews, manager of the Weltner Motor Company, through his attorne , <br />Mr, Millington, answered that they did not. Councilman'Brit.schgi then asked ho <br />the property could be considered one piece'of property. <br />Mayor Granger brought out the f act that Cuddy Motor Company was refused a <br />permit under similar conditions, property being on two sides of the highway. <br />Councilman McNulty believed it would be two lots and that the Council should no <br />discriminate between dealers and that other dealers had been refused similar <br />requests. <br />Attorney Millington asked if permit had been refused when property- was continuou <br />to which Councilman Britschgi answered that Towne Motor Company had'been re- <br />fused a permit under similar, condititdns. , <br />Councilman McNulty believed there were too many used car -lots in town now. <br />Attorney Millington said that a'business man should be allowed an outlet for his <br />business and that there were at least two or three dealers in town who had more <br />than one lot. Councilman Britschgi asked that the City Manager be instructed to <br />check into this matter. <br />Councilman Armstrong stated he would vote against issuing the permit on the <br />grounds that there wLere too many used car lots on El Camino Real at the present <br />time. <br />On motion of Councilman Armstrong, seconded by Councl°iman Hilton, permit <br />denied. <br />City Manager Mead reported 'on matter' of woman welfare worker in the Police 'Department. <br />He reported that he had�held a meeting with the Board of Review ion December 29, <br />'1943., and asked the City Clerk to read the minutes of that meeting, in which the <br />Board of Review recommended that the job classification be accepted and that no <br />age limit be set but that the successful applicant would be requested to appear <br />before the Board of Review th o would use their discretion in the matter. <br />Councilman Armstrong .moved that recommendation of Board of Review be accept <br />and job classification for woman welfare worker be included in classification <br />plan. Motion seconded by Councilman Hilton. Under the question, Councilman <br />Anderson asked when this position was to be filled to which City Manager Mead <br />replied that it would be filled as soon as a person'could be Mound to meet the <br />qualifications.
