B ,. <br />MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING <br />REDWOQD CITY COUNCIL . <br />FEBRUARY 211 1944 <br />r <br />Upon roll call the folloining were present: Councilmen C. C. Armstrong, C. A. Britsch <br />E. A. Fletcher, W. W. Hilton, Mayor F. D. Granger and City Clerk R. S. Dodge. <br />Also present were: City Manager R. W. Head, City Attorney Paul A. McCarthy, <br />Fire Chief M. E. Ryan, Police Chief*C. L. Collins, City Collector N. L. <br />Miramontes,'Building Inspector L. M: Duncan, Street Superintendent H. L". Winter <br />and Health Inspector Emil Stein. Absent: Councilmen H. F. Anderson and G. W. <br />McNulty. <br />'Councilman Armstrong moved, seconded by Councilman Fletcher, that minutes of previous <br />meeting be approved as mailed. Motion passed unanimously. <br />Mr. Don L. Bogie appeared before the Council requesting appropriations be made to <br />the Girl Scouts and Y. M. C. A. of an amount equal to that appropriated to the. <br />Boy Scouts at the last meeting of the Council. He stated that both these groups <br />had served the city for many years and felt in fairness to them they should <br />'also be given money to enable them to buy equipment and furniture. He stated <br />that Miss Stiles, representing the Girl Scouts, and Mr. Caldwell, representing <br />the Y. 14. C. A., would be at the meeting later in the evening. It was decided <br />to postpone discussion regarding this request until these representatives <br />appeared. <br />Mie. Joseph Farr appeared before the Council representing the Veterans' Council and <br />presented a letter which they had received from W. H. Augustus, County Clerk, <br />requesting permission to use the Veterans' Hall as a polling place for the count3 <br />election on May 16. Mr. Farr asked the Council to approve this request. <br />Councilman McNulty entered the meeting. <br />Mr. Farr also requested that permission to use the building in the November <br />election be granted at the same time. Councilman Fletcher moved, seconded by <br />Councilman Armstrong, that if the United Veterans had no objections, the Council <br />would give its approval to this request., Motion passed unanimously. <br />Mr. Al Anderson appeared before the Council requesting permission to install a steam <br />room in his home. He operates a gymnasium at his home, principally for the <br />benefit of the men entering the armed services. He stated he was in the second <br />0 <br />a <br />
