<br />,Boy Scouts as an organization but was donated to fix a building which had been
<br />condemned as a fire hazard. Councilman Armstrong stated that the money
<br />appropriated to the nBoy Scouts was for a specific purpose - to repair .a publicly
<br />owned building. He stated, that the requests made tonight were for property
<br />privately owned and that there had been no attempt to justify the „request on
<br />the grounds of ,safety. t�
<br />Mr. Bogie believed all organizations should be treated equally and that they
<br />should all receive a like amount..
<br />Mayor Granger asked Mr. James Hagen for his opinion as a member of the Community
<br />Chest. Mr. Hagen stated that the Community Chest would not look with favor upon
<br />a donation as the organizations were not to solicit for donations, however, this
<br />would be for the maintenance of a building and would not be looked upon by the
<br />Community Chest as a donation.
<br />The matter was placed, on the agenda for the next meeting. Councilman, Armstrong
<br />moved, seconded by Councilman Fletcher, that the representatives of these
<br />agencies be asked to submit a definite plan of what they expect to accomplish
<br />and the cost, the pian to be presented to the City Manager. Under the question, -
<br />Councilman Britschgi asked if this matter could not be referred to the Civilian
<br />Defense and the appropriation made out of Federal Funds. Mayor Granger stated
<br />that the Civilian Defense funds would come under the same catagory as city funds.
<br />City Manager Mead stated that it might be possible for Lanham Act funds to be
<br />used to aid these organizations and that he would look into the matter. Motion
<br />passed unanimously.
<br />Application for dance permit was received from George Solari for Court Madrone, F. of
<br />A., for dances to be held Saturdays, February 26 and.March 4. Councilman
<br />Fletcher moved, seconded by Councilman Britschgi, that permit be granted.
<br />Application for dance permit was received from Howard Frederic for dances to be held
<br />Wednesdays, February 23 and March 1, until 12:00 A. t:I., no fee having been paid
<br />as yet. Councilman Armstrong moved, seconded by Councilman Britschgi, that permit
<br />be granted upon payment of fee. C
<br />Application for a restuarant license was received from Roy and Willie Williamson,
<br />2314 Broadway. Applicant is not now conducting a restuarant and has no ]iquor
<br />license. Fee up to June 30, 1944, has not been paid as yet.' Health Inspector
<br />Stein reported that he had made an inspection of the premises. Some changes
<br />are necessary in the plumbing and they are to submit plans to the Building
<br />Inspector. They are also going to practice rodent control. Councilman Fletcher
<br />moved, seconded by Councilman Armstrong, that when the matter is cleared through
<br />the Health Department and Building Inspector, the permit be granted. Motion
<br />passed unanimously.
<br />Application from the Women of the Moose was received for a permit to give benefit
<br />dances on February 25 and March 3. Councilman Britschgi moved, seconded by
<br />Councilman McNulty, that permit be granted.
<br />Application for permit to conduct a rummage sale to be held March 3 and 4, at 838 or
<br />940 Main Street, was received from the Ladies of the Congregational Church.
<br />Councilman Fletcher moved, seconded by Councilman McNulty; that permit be granted.
