City Clerk Dodge read letter from City Collector Miramontes which had been submitted <br />to the real estate committee and approved by them in regard to acceptance of <br />$171.01 on delinquent taxes on Lot 280 Block 5, Map No. 1, Central Park - a 25 <br />foot lot on Hudson Street. Councilman McNulty believed the -offer was a good <br />one and that if the city, took the lat back it would not realize as much on it. <br />Councilman Armstrong moved, seconded by Councilman Fletcher, that the offer be <br />accepted. Under the question, Councilman Britschgi asked if this money -were <br />going to be credited against the 1915 bond. Mrs. Miramontes stated that part of <br />it would go to the 1915 bond. Motion passed unanimously. <br />City Clerk Dodge read letter from City Collector Miarmontes which had been submitted <br />to the real estate committee and approved by them in regard to accepting <br />09,000.00 from A. S. Ligouri in payment of delinquent taxes, delinquent weed tax <br />and delinquent bond assessment Resolution K-12, on sixty-one parcels of land on <br />Broadway, Maple, Bpech, Chestnut Streets and Bay Road. Mrs. Miramontes stated <br />that the city could not realize the value of the lots,. She stated that a former <br />council had agreed to accept an amount that was $2000 under the present amount <br />of reduction. 'Thr. Ligouri donated a 60 foot strip of land for the extension <br />of Broadway and had installed the electroliers at a cost of $4000. City Manager <br />Mead stated that Mr, Ligouri had paid $23,000 for -improvements. Councilman <br />Fletcher stated that he believed the real estate committee's recommendation was <br />a fair one inasmuch as Mr. Ligouri had donated so much property in the extension <br />of Broadway, and moved that the recommendation be accepted, seconded by Council- <br />man Britschgi. Motion passed unanimously. <br />Communication was received from the Traffic Safety Committee recommending that Main <br />Street be marked with six traffic lanes -to conform to traffic lanes on El -Camino <br />Real and, if possible, markings of the lanes to be done by the State. Councilman <br />Britschgi asked what authority the city had over a State Highway running through <br />the city. City Manager Mead stated it Would be necessary to get permission from <br />the State to Paint the lines. Councilman Britschgi moved, seconded by Councilman <br />Fletcher, that the City Manager contact the State Highway Department and <br />ascertain whether they were in favor of these markings. Motion passed unanimously. <br />Councilman McNulty requested that the City Manager also inquire as to why the <br />outside track crossing Main Street is not repaired. <br />Councilman Bristchgi stated he was under the impression that when the railroad <br />was given a franchise through the city, it was given with certain restrictions. <br />He didn't believe,our requests were given enough consideration and:asked the <br />City Manager to check into the matter. City* Manager Mead stated he believed we <br />had been receiving a great deal.of cooperation from the railroad company lately. <br />Couxicilman Fletcher stated he believed there was a marked -Improvement. Mayor <br />Granger stated he would like the City Attorney to check the conditions under <br />which the right of way was granted to the Southern Pacific for the operation of <br />the Chestnut Street line. City Manager Mead stated that the right of way was <br />granted to the Harbor Development Company and when the Southern Pacific took oven <br />the railroad it assumed the obligations.
