MI11UTES OF REGULAR MEETING <br />i REDWOOD CITY COUNCIL <br />MARCH 20, 1944 <br />8:00 P. I,T.. <br />On roll call the following were present: Councilmen C. C. Armstrong, C. A. Britschgi <br />W.:W. Hilton, G. W. McNulty, Mayor F. D. Granger, and City Clerk R. S. Dodge. <br />Also present were: City Manager R. W. Mead, City Attorney Paul A. McCarthy, <br />Fire Chief M. E. Ryan, Police Chief 0. L. Collins, Building Inspector L. M. <br />Duncan, City Collector N. L. 1-2iramontes, Street Superintendent H. L. Winter, <br />wHealth Inspector Emii Stein. Absent: Councilmen H. F. Anderson, and ,E. A. <br />Fletcher. <br />0 <br />L <br />U <br />Ej <br />Minutes of the previous meetizig were approved as mailed on.motion of Councilman <br />McNulty, seconded by Councilman Armstrong. <br />Application for dance permit was received from George Solari, Court Maarone No. 1581 <br />F. of A. for benefit dances to be field Saturdays, March 25 and April 1, until <br />1:00 A. M. Councilman Armstrong moved, seconded by Councilman Britschgi,'that <br />permit be granted subject to the same condition as recent premits have been <br />granted. Motion passed unanimously. <br />Application was received from Howard Frederic for permit for dances to be held <br />Wednesday, March 22 and 29, the fee having been paid. Councilman Hilton moved, <br />seconded by Councilman McNulty, that permit be granted. Motion passed <br />Communication was received from Mrs. Rebecca Weiss requesting permission for the <br />Order'o,f Rainboiw-for Girls to conduct their annual Spring formal dance, invitat <br />on Saturday, March 25, at the Masonic Hall. On motion of Councilman Armstrong, <br />seconded by Councilman Hilton, request was granted. Motion passed unanimously. <br />Communication was received from the Women of the Moose requesting permission to conduc <br />benefit dances at the Moose Hall on Arguello Street, on Fridays, March 24 and 31. <br />Councilman Britschgi moved, seconded by Councilman McNulty, that permission be <br />granted to conduct said dances. Motion passed unanimously. <br />Communication was received from Mrs. Tdinnie.E. Kincaid expressing appreciation for <br />sympathy extended to her at the death of her husband, Archer Kincaid. <br />Communication was received from Frank A. DePatta, Chairman, Salvage for Victory <br />Committee, enclosing check in the amount of 025.98 from the Metal & Thermit <br />Corporation covering can pickup for the month of Febraury, 194.4. On motion of <br />Councilman Britschgi, seconded by Councilman McNulty,'check was referred to the <br />War Council. Motion passed unanimously. <br />amity Clerk R. S. Dodge read communication from the Chamber of Commerce addressed to <br />City Manager'R. W. Mead recommending that the City Council authorize a continua <br />of an ad published yearly in the "California Real Estate Magazine", at a cost of <br />$55.00. Councilman Armstrong moved, seconded by Councilman 1Britschgi, that this <br />expenditure be authorized. Motion passed unanimously. <br />OJaptain Wm. 'H. Gilson of the California State Guard appeared before the Council in re- <br />J <br />gard to renting space suitable for storing equipment of the State Guard. It was <br />his opinion that there might be a publicly owned building which might be available <br />for this purpose. It was recommended that the matter be referred to the City <br />Manager and that Captain Gilson contact Mr. Mead Saturday, March 25- <br />
